East Windsor Township Recognizes East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School Girls Softball Team as 2019 NJSIAA Group IV State Champions

Mayor Janice Mironov issued a Mayoral Proclamation recognizing and congratulating the East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School Girls Softball Team on their victory as the 2019 NJSIAA Group IV State Champions, earning the first state championship for Hightstown High School of any kind in over 40 years.   

The East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School Girls Softball Team had a historic season, setting a school record with a 26 to 5 win record, and earning several other championship titles during their triumphant 2019 season.  The team became the 2019 CVC Colonial Division Champions, after remaining undefeated in their division.  The Girls Softball Team then went on to defeat two time sectional title winner Montgomery High School with a 3-2 victory, winning the 2019 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV State Championship and earning the program’s first state sectional title since 1976. 

Mayor Mironov stated, “This championship represents an exciting record setting accomplishment by our high school girls softball team, putting East Windsor on the sports map.   This is an incredible team of girls who demonstrated outstanding training, persistence and motivation throughout the season, and more importantly worked together as a team, to reach great victories and historic achievements this year.  Each player brought their individual talents and strengths to the team and along with effective coaching, management and the support of their community, they were able to go all the way.  On behalf of the Township Council and the entire community, we want to recognize the team’s admirable achievements and express how proud we are of every single player.”

The Mayoral Proclamation details the team’s achievements and victories and stating “the East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School Girls’ Softball Team championship triumphs demonstrate the Team’s extraordinary skills and training, persistence, dedication and effective teamwork, making their family and the entire community extremely proud.”

Members of the 2019 NJSIAA Group IV State Champion Girls Softball Team are players Abby Bell, Izzy Benitez, Allie Bridgman, Sydney Busa, Marissa Caniano, Alex Desiderio, Morghan Fleisher, Izzy Hulme, Sarah Mann, Jackie Masone, Katie Scheid, Caitlin Walsh, and Gina Zappola, their dedicated manager Katie Brophy, assistant coach Jenna Marcus and head coach Pete Lestician.
