MERCER COUNTY TRADE TRANSPORTATION

TRADE Transportation provides non-emergency transportation to residents of Mercer County who are seniors (age 60+) and to adults with disabilities.  Service is available county-wide and up to 5 miles beyond the border of Mercer County.  Following is general information about TRADE:

TRADE employs 25 full-time drivers and 3 stand-by drivers.  All drivers have a Commercial Driving License and Passenger Endorsement.  All TRADE vehicles are accessible via passenger lifts.  Transportation is provided free to eligible Mercer County residents.  A donation of $1.00 is suggested for each trip.

  • Reservations are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.  Reservations can be made up to 14 days in advance.  While some service requests can be accommodated with less notice, advance notice is suggested.  TRADE does not place a priority on the type of trip requested.  TRADE does maintain a waiting list for trip requests that exceed our capacity, especially for transportation to dialysis and other repeating-type trips.

  • Service is provided on a demand responsive (occasional) or subscription (repeating) basis.  TRADE provides subscription service to customers traveling frequently to County Nutrition Centers, Dialysis Centers and to work.

  • Service is provided for a variety of trip purposes including medical, dialysis, nutrition centers, employment, recreation, education & shopping.  TRADE does provide weekly shopping trips to residents of some senior housing sites.

  • TRADE submits an annual application to NJ Transit for operating funds through the Senior Citizen and Disabled Resident Transportation Assistance Program (SCDRTAP).  TRADE also receives grant funding through the Mercer County Office on Aging and the NJ Dept. of Military and Veterans' Affairs.  The County of Mercer also provides operating funds to TRADE.

  • In 2013, TRADE provided over 129,000 one-way passenger trips.
