Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members announced East Windsor Township’s participation in Younity’s (formerly Womanspace) “Communities of Light” event on October 26, encouraging residents, businesses and community organizations to join in this important initiative to raise public awareness of domestic violence, support victims and their families, and generate funds for essential services provided by Younity.
The annual “Communities of Light” event seeks to shine a light on the issue of domestic violence, increase awareness of the resources and assistance available to victims, and demonstrate community-wide support for individuals and families affected by abuse.
Mayor Mironov encouraged residents and local businesses to participate by purchasing luminary kits, each containing six candles, for $15, available at the East Windsor Township Police/Municipal Court Building, located at 80 One Mile Road. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to Younity, Mercer County's primary organization providing comprehensive services and support to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Younity is dedicated to helping victims of abuse achieve safety, stability and an improved quality of life. For additional information or to purchase luminary kits, call (609) 448-5678, ext. 232.
Mayor Mironov stated, “Through our participation in 'Communities of Light,' we hope to heighten public awareness of domestic violence and the critical support services available to victims and their families. As a community, we are proud to stand with Younity and recognize the invaluable assistance and resources this organization provides to those affected by domestic violence.”
Mayor Mironov added, “The lighting of luminaries offers a meaningful and visible expression of our community's commitment to addressing domestic violence. Each candle serves as a symbol of hope, compassion and solidarity with individuals and families who face violence in their homes, while reminding us of the importance of ensuring that victims know they are not alone and that help is available.”
