Free document shredding will be available to East Windsor Township residents only for the secure disposal of unwanted and confidential documents. Shredding will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the truck is full. Document shredding is limited to 10 boxes per household, and commercial entities are not permitted.

Mayor Mironov stated, “This is a great opportunity for East Windsor residents to securely dispose of old and confidential documents. Document shredding provides an effective means of protecting personal information from recovery and helping to prevent identity theft.”

Electronics recycling also will be available and includes televisions, computers and computer accessories, monitors, fax machines, VCRs, cable boxes and radios. Residents also may drop off fluorescent bulbs, household batteries, printer cartridges and cell phones for recycling.

Township residents also are encouraged to recycle plastic film at the event. Accepted materials include grocery and retail bags, pallet wrap and stretch film, bread bags, air pillows, bubble wrap, newspaper sleeves, dry-cleaning bags, produce and ice bags, case overwrap and product wrap, plastic shipping envelopes, and Ziploc and other reclosable food-storage bags.

For efficiency and safety, residents are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times and have identification readily available to display as proof of East Windsor Township residency.

Mayor Mironov stated, “We are committed to recycling in East Windsor Township and reducing the Township’s solid waste disposal costs while helping to preserve a greener environment. This event provides residents with a convenient, environmentally responsible opportunity to securely shred documents and recycle a variety of materials at no cost, while helping the Township reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.”
