East Windsor Presents to Linda L. Moore 2026 Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer

For Release:  June 1, 2026

Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members Richard Eland, Marc Lippman, Joseph Miczak, Johnnie Whittington, and John Zoller presented the 2026 Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer to Linda L. Moore. Since relocating to East Windsor in 1971, Linda Moore has demonstrated decades of exceptional community involvement and volunteer service. Her contributions have been extensive, meaningful, and enduring, characterized by a deep commitment to the community that began early, spanned a broad range of organizations and initiatives, and continues to this day.

Currently, Linda Moore is serving her 27th year as Chairperson of the East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, where she has helped guide major infrastructure initiatives, including water and wastewater treatment facility upgrades and the installation of a solar array that fully powers the EWMUA Millstone Road facility. She also volunteered for more than a decade, through 2023, with the Womanspace (now YoUnity) Domestic Violence Victim Response Team, providing support and counseling to victims of domestic abuse.

Linda Moore made history as East Windsor Township’s first female Mayor and also served two terms on the Township Council. Throughout her years of public service, she has been a founding member and Chair of the CAPPS Community Arts Partnership at The Peddie School, helping to bring arts and music programs to the local community. Her extensive civic involvement also has included service on the East Windsor Township Planning Board, Health Advisory Board, Economic Development Committee, and Environmental Commission.

The award, named in honor of Sylvia Weiss, a former Township Council Member and Senior Citizen Advisor who was instrumental in the establishment of East Windsor’s senior citizen program, was created to recognize a senior citizen who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and a lasting commitment to improving the community.
