East Windsor Township Recognizes Volunteer Firefighters of the Year During Fire Prevention Week

East Windsor Township Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed Fire Prevention Week, thanked all of East Windsor’s dedicated volunteer fire company members, and recognized 2014 Firefighters of the YearJosh Matorin of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and Michael Crismali of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2.

Mayor Mironov issued Proclamations to Firefighters of the Year Josh Matorin and Michael Crismali, “expressing deep appreciation for their special and invaluable contributions and extraordinary dedication.” She noted that “volunteer firefighters Josh Matorin and Michael Crismali are outstanding models, who have devoted countless hours to public service, earning them much respect from Fire Company members and the entire East Windsor community."

Josh Matorin joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in 2005, and has over these ten years been an extremely dedicated and valuable contributor, underscored by his recognition also as 2009 “Firefighter of the Year.” Josh Matorin, who currently serves as Assistant Chief and a Trustee, has held many Fire Company leadership positions, also including Engineer, Lieutenant and Captain, in addition to Vice President and Recording Secretary. He is actively involved on the Fire Prevention Committee visiting local schools and daycare centers, as well as participating in numerous community events and prevention activities, and serving as a member of the Company Membership Committee, Safer Grant Committee, Bi-laws Committee and Insurance Committee.

Michael Crismali joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 in December 2009 as a probationary firefighter, graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2011, and thereafter became a driver/operator of the apparatus. He has held several important positions in the Fire Company, serving as Engineer since 2014, and Treasurer since January 2013 for which he organizes all fundraising and boot drive events for the Fire Company. Michael Crismali has always been a top responder, responding to over 197 fire calls in 2014, as well as attending numerous training drills, community events and prevention activities over the last six years.
