East Windsor Township Recognizes Dairy Queen with Litter Free Award

Mayor Janice S. Mironov and the East Windsor Clean Communities Advisory Committee have awarded Dairy Queen, located on Route 130 North, a “Certificate of Appreciation for Keeping East Windsor Township Litter Free.”  The purpose of the award is to recognize a local business that has made special efforts to keep East Windsor Township litter free.  The award was accepted by East Windsor Dairy Queen owners George and Margaret Vardakis.

The East Windsor Dairy Queen, a family owned and operated business, opened in 1964 and recently celebrated 55 years in the community.  Open serving ice cream all year round, Dairy Queen is an active corporate citizen, participating in and supporting many community special events and programs throughout the year, including the Township Adopt-A-Spot program annual wrap-up event, Township National Night Out, school events, community youth sports programs and local Scout projects.

Mayor Mironov stated “Dairy Queen is a local business situated in a highly visible prominent location on a major Township road, and they have done a great job keeping their property and building well maintained, landscaped and free of litter, thereby enhancing the municipal appearance and environment.  Dairy Queen clearly has undertaken significant efforts in working to make East Windsor Township a cleaner and healthier and more attractive community, which is a major benefit to our community.  We also note and appreciate that Dairy Queen is a longstanding popular and generous Township business.”
