Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed Emergency Medical Services Week May 21 to 27, and, joined by East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I Chief Robert Manlio, honored as “Emergency Medical Technician of the Year” Arlen Forst.

Mayor Mironov issued a Proclamation declaring Emergency Medical Services Week, May 21 to 27, praising all Township emergency medical services volunteers of East Windsor Township rescue squads for giving selflessly of themselves and providing emergency medical services in an exemplary manner and further recognized as Emergency Medical Technician of the Year Arlen Forst.

Arlen Forst, who first joined East Windsor Rescue Squad, District II in November 2000, has actively pursued skills and educational advancement, earning his Emergency Medical Technician certification in 2001, and later earning his Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Incident Command System certifications during his time of service.  Arlen Forst quickly proved his skills as an Emergency Medical Technician and is a key component of the operations of the Township Rescue Squad, holding numerous positions of leadership and responsibility, including president, treasurer, and deputy chief.  Mayor Mironov praised Arlen Forst in the Proclamation, noting he has “continued his volunteer services with East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to ensure the on-going efficient and effective operations of the Township Rescue Squad by riding overnight shifts, training new members, and working countless hours to help anyone in need.”  Arlen Forst also was recognized as “Emergency Medical Technician of the Year” in 2003 and 2014, due to his leadership and devotion to the Rescue Squad and the community.

The Mayoral Proclamation stated that "the provision of emergency medical services is a vital public service resulting in lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week," and further noting "the volunteer members engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills and give selflessly of themselves by providing emergency medical services in an exemplary manner."
