  1. Shiseido America Is Undertaking Expansion of East Windsor Facility on Princeton Hightstown Road. Shiseido America is a subsidiary of the Japanese-based corporation Shiseido Company LTD, which is the fourth largest cosmetics company in the world and develops upscale cosmetics, sun care products, fragrances and professional salon hair care products. Shiseido America established its operations in East Windsor in 1998 and serves as a manufacturing center for the company. The nearly 73,000 square foot expansion of the current 211,000 square foot facility includes a major addition to the existing warehouse building, additional parking spaces and an expanded loading area. The expansion will allow the company to handle a gradual shift of distribution from their Oakland, NJ facility to East Windsor. The additional space also will allow the facility to move their loading docks inside to accommodate an efficient floor loading system. The East Windsor facility currently employs approximately 150 full time employees, up to 150 temporary employees and is planning for an additional 10 full time employees with the expansion. Shiseido anticipates completion of all work by mid-summer 2013.

  2. East Windsor Township Was Awarded a $200,000 New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Small Cities Community Development Block Grant for Housing Rehabilitation. The award, successfully obtained by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members, provides funds to assist low and moderate income property owners to correct interior and exterior health, safety and code violations. Homeowners who fall within the program’s income eligibility criteria and guidelines can receive funds to repair or replace heating and electrical systems, plumbing system components, weatherization (windows, insulation, etc.), roofs, lead remediation and foundations.   3. East Windsor Township 2013 New Year’s Food Drive Continuesthrough January 31. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members are asking area residents and businesses to drop off donated non-perishable food items at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard), East Windsor Police Building (80 One Mile Road), or the East Windsor Rescue Squad, District II (73 Twin Rivers Drive). The food drive will benefit the Green House Food Pantry at St. Anthony’s Church and the Food Pantry at RISE, area based organizations that provide assistance to local individuals and families.

  4. Modern Dental Care Is Opened by Dr. Polina Barenbaum on Route 130 North, between Bottle King and American Diner. The new East Windsor dental office offers an array of general dental services including preventative care, periodontics and endodontics, and a variety of cosmetic services including whitening and bonding.

  5. East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 1 Installed New Officers for 2013. Scott Prykanowski again will serve as Chief and Jeff Shankerwill serve as President of Rescue Squad, District 1 for 2013. Congratulations and thank you to all Township dedicated volunteers!

  6. East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Was Awarded a $45,000 Grant for the purchase and installation of a complete breathing air fill containment compressor station, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistant to Firefighters Grant program. The new equipment will provide the ability to fill breathing apparatus cylinders in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) specifications, and will be available to all mutual aid fire companies during emergencies. Fire Company No. 2 was one of six departments statewide to receive part of the $640,000 in federal funding.

  7. Mercer County Surrogate East Windsor Satellite Office to Continue in 2013, in accordance with an arrangement between Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Surrogate Diane Gerofsky. The Satellite Office is housed at the Township Senior Center and provides residents the opportunity to obtain probate services locally. The East Windsor Surrogate Satellite Office is offered from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on the4th Tuesday of each month, specifically: January 22, February 26, March 26, April 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, August 27, September 24, October 22, November 26, and December 24. NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AUTHORITY TO OPEN
NEW EAST WINDSOR INTERCHANGE 8 TOLL PLAZA
LATER THIS WEEK

New Jersey Turnpike Authority Has Advised Township Mayor Janice S. Mironov that the New Ten Lane East Windsor Interchange 8 Toll Plaza Will Be Fully Open Saturday, January 26, Early Morning, Weather Permitting. The relocation and opening of the new Interchange 8 toll plaza will be done in phases commencing Tuesday, January 22 midnight and concluding on Saturday, January 26 early morning. Signage will be erected throughout the area to assist motorists during the conversion.

NOTE for Area Residents, the Key Element During the Change is:EFFECTIVE FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, EARLY MORNING POST-MIDNIGHT, ALL TRAFFIC ENTERING EAST WINDSOR INTERCHANGE 8 WILL ACCESS AT THE NEW TOLL PLAZA. At that time, the existing toll plaza and all access ramps to it will be totally closed. New signage will direct vehicles to the newly opened Interchange 8.

Access to the new East Windsor Interchange 8 toll plaza has been relocated to the east side of the Turnpike via ramps in the vicinity of the Route 33/Route 133 intersection. Recently installed traffic signals will enable vehicles to and from Route 33 and Route 133 to safely access and exit the New Jersey Turnpike. Completion of the new bridge linking the NJ Turnpike access and Route 133 is scheduled for late spring 2013.

As of Wednesday, January 23 early morning post- midnight, northbound NJ Turnpike traffic will exit at the new toll plaza. As of Saturday, January 26 early morning, all Turnpike traffic will exit at the new toll plaza. The new toll plaza and all related accesses will then be fully open and functioning and will have replaced the existing Interchange 8 plaza and access.

The entire New Jersey Turnpike Widening Project remains set for completion in mid-2014. At the completion of the project, there will be a 12-lane dual-dual car-truck roadway from Interchange 6 to Interchange 9.

  1. New Turnpike East Windsor Interchange 8 Is Fully Open with access to the new toll plaza relocated to the east side of the Turnpike via ramps in the vicinity of the Route 33/Route 133 intersection.   2. East Windsor Township Annual Reorganization Meeting Was Held on January 8, 2013. Janice S. Mironov began her 18th consecutive year as Mayor and Alan Rosenberg was sworn in as Deputy Mayor. Several volunteers were also recognized for their many years of service on Township Boards and Commissions.

  3. East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 2 Installed New Officers for 2013. Tristan Torres will again serve as Chief and Amanda Brookswill serve as President of Rescue Squad, District 2 for 2013. Congratulations and thank you to all of the Township’s dedicated volunteers!

  4. East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Installed New Officers for 2013. Barry Rashkin will again serve as Chief and Ben Thorntonwill again serve as President of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 for 2013. Congratulations and thank you to all of the Township’s dedicated volunteers!

  5. East Windsor Recreation Department Is Accepting Applications for 2013 Summer Camp Positions. The positions include camp supervisors, camp counselors, before and after camp care staff, lifeguards, bus drivers and (non-paying) counselors-in-training. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Township Recreation Department at 609-443-4000, ext. 214 or on-line at www.east-windsor.nj.us by clicking Recreation tab on the left, then Summer Camps. Individuals 18 years and older will be subject to a criminal background check. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.

  6. Township Manager Alan Fisher Retired on January 18 after 8 Years of Service to East Windsor Township. Mr. Fisher’s faithful service to East Windsor Township is greatly appreciated and the East Windsor community wishes him much satisfaction and fulfillment in his retirement. James Brady, the Township Recreation Director, has been promoted to Township Manager. Mr. Brady, a 20 year East Windsor resident, previously served 22 years with the East Windsor Police Department, retiring from the department as a Lieutenant in 2010. He received his Bachelors of Science from Rutgers University and Masters of Science from Central Michigan University.

  1. Township and Mercer County Hold Special Passport Day on Thursday, April 4 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard). Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello are sponsoring this special Passport Day locally at which the Mercer County Clerk’s Office will process United States passport applications on-site for residents. Residents can just show up, but are encouraged to call 609-989-6465 to reserve a specific appointment time. To apply, residents will need: (1) proof of U.S. citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate, a U.S. naturalization certificate or a previous U.S. passport, and (2) proof of identity in the form of a current driver’s license or state issued identification card. Cost of the passport is $110 for adults, and $80 for minors, plus a processing fee of $25. Passport photos can be taken on-site if needed for $15 or $10 for senior citizens. Only checks or money orders will be accepted.   2. Louis Bay 2nd Scholarship Opportunity by the New Jersey State League of Municipalities and Mayor Janice S. Mironov for high school juniors and seniors from East Windsor Township. Three $1,000 scholarships through the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition are available centering on the theme of "What My Mayor and Governing Body Do Best." The program is looking for students seeking to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of municipal government. Competition guidelines and the application can be found at www.njslom.org/letters/2013-0130-Louis-Bay.html. The application deadline is March 8, 2013.

  3. East Windsor Clean Communities Committee 2012 Adopt-A-Spot Wrap-Up held to recognize and thank participants. Under this program, participating groups “adopt” a public property and keep it clean during the year. A placard is erected on the site indicating that it has been “adopted by” with the name of the group. The groups are expected to perform clean-up 3 times a month from April 1 through November 1. Congratulations to the 2012 Adopt-A-Spot participants: Cub Scout Pack 53, Girl Scout Troop 70153, Girl Scout Troop 71693, Girl Scout Troop 70342, Girl Scout Troop 71426, Boy Scout Troop 59, Beth El Synagogue, East Windsor Police Athletic League, Boy Scout Troop 5700 and the Casciano Family. Mercer County Holds Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, March 23 from 9 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, at the Sun National Bank Center – Lot 1, at 80 Hamilton Avenue, Trenton (intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Route 129). Residents can dispose of camera equipment, central processing units, circuit boards, copiers, electric wire, fax machines, keyboards, laptops and peripherals, microwave ovens, computer mice, networking equipment, phones, printers, scanners, stereo equipment, televisions and VCRs. Only Mercer County residents can utilize paper shredding service, and are limited to a maximum of eight boxes or bags. For further information, visit www.mcia-nj.com or call (609) 278-8086.

  6. East Windsor Township Recognized for Achieving Bronze Level Sustainable Jersey Certification at the annual Sustainable Jersey Special Recognition Ceremony on January 29. Sustainable Jersey is a certification program that supports community efforts to improve the environment by providing New Jersey municipalities with tools and training, and financial incentives to support and reward communities as they pursue sustainability programs. East Windsor Township earned the minimum of 150 action points, including priority actions and creation of a municipal Green Team, to be certified. Programs and actions undertaken by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members include creation of a farmland preservation plan, inventory and upgrade of municipal buildings for energy efficiency, community recycling/paper shredding events, Buy Local campaign, “Cut it and Leave it” program, backyard composting program, tree protection ordinance, environmental assessment ordinance, sustainable land use commitment, green building policy and community outreach programs.

  1. East Windsor Township 2012 Employees of the Year recognized by Mayor Janice S. Mironov. The honored Township employees are: Jennifer A. Santiago, Secretary to the Manager, Administration; Police Detective Joseph Gorski, Law and Public Safety, and William Askenstedt, Director, along with the entire Department of Public Works. Jennifer Santiago has been a Township employee since 1992, Det. Joseph Gorski since 1995, and Bill Askenstedt since 1984.

  2. East Windsor Is Soliciting Nominations for the Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer. The annual award is to recognize a senior citizen who has exhibited outstanding service through volunteerism to the community by way of the schools, religious institutions, service organizations or directly to the public. Nominees must be at least 60 years of age and residents of East Windsor. Nomination forms, due by April 12, are available at the municipal building, on-line at the Township website www.east-windsor.nj.us or by calling the Municipal Clerk’s office at 443-4000, ext. 240.

  3. All Smiles Family Dental Operated by Dr. Anjali Shah Opens Offices next to Party City in the Town Center Shopping Center on Route 130 South. The new East Windsor dental office offers comprehensive and specialized dental services including tooth colored fillings, implants, veneers, bridges, dentures, root canals and periodontics.

  4. Free Gun Safety Locks Are Available to Township Residents During March as part of a Township Sponsored Gun Safety Program. The Township is sponsoring this proactive safety initiative to promote improved gun safety, as these gun locks if properly used can help keep guns out of the hands of children and prevent accidental deaths and injuries in the home. The gun locks are available to East Windsor at no cost through Project Child Safe, a national firearms safety program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Free gun safety locks can be obtained at the Township police building by contacting Detective Brian Gorski at 448-5678, ext. 236.

  6. Annual East Windsor Egg Hunt Is Scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at 9 am at Etra Lake Park (rain date Sunday, March 24 at 1 pm). The egg hunt is for children in pre-school through grade 5. This annual event features lots of candy, prizes and fun! There is no fee or registration, but each child should bring a basket or bag. To avoid a last minute traffic jam at the park entrance, plan to arrive early. If inclement weather, call 443-4000, ext. 400 for information.

  7.   8. East Windsor Encourages Community Groups to Participate in 2013 Township Adopt-A-Spot. Under this program, participating groups “adopt” a public property and keep it clean during the year. A placard is erected on the site indicating that it has been “adopted by” with the name of the group. The groups are expected to perform clean-up 3 times per month from April 1 through November 30. To participate, interested groups should send a letter to East Windsor Clean Communities Committee, ATTN: Mayor Janice S. Mironov, 16 Lanning Boulevard, East Windsor, NJ 08520.

  9. Louis Bay 2nd Scholarship Opportunity by the New Jersey State League of Municipalities and Mayor Janice S. Mironov for high school juniors and seniors from East Windsor Township. Three $1,000 scholarships through the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition are available centering on the theme of "What My Mayor and Governing Body Do Best." The program is looking for students seeking to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of municipal government.   1. IMPORTANT 2013 DOG LICENSING REMINDER: This is an important reminder to obtain your 2013 Dog License as soon as possible, if you have not yet done so. Ensure that the rabies vaccination is valid through November 1, 2013 as required by law. An additional late fee of $1.00 per month, effective February 1, is now being assessed.   2. East Windsor Recreation Department Summer Camp Registration Begins March 18 for Township Residents. A variety of recreational day and travel camps are offered for students entering grades K-10: the Sunny Day Camp for children entering kindergarten and Grade 1; the Recreation Day Camp for children entering Grade 2 through Grade 6; the Junior Travel Camp for children entering Grade 4 through Grade 6, and the Senior Travel Camp for children entering Grade 7 through Grade 10. The theme of the poster is to promote any or all of the “4 R’s” of the Township Recycling Program Logo, which are: RECYCLE all items that can be recycled; REUSE other items rather than throw them out in the trash; REDUCE materials into their homes that then have to be disposed of, and REBUY, that is buy goods that use recycled materials. Posters should be left by Monday, March 25 at the student’s School Administrative Office or at the East Windsor Municipal Building Mayor’s Office. Participants should be certain to provide on the back of each poster the student’s name, address, phone number, grade level and school attended. Contest winners will be notified and awards, including a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble donated by Shiseido, will be made by Mayor Janice Mironov at an Earth Day ceremony at the April 16 Council meeting at 7:30 pm. Winning posters will be displayed in the municipal building lobby during the month of May.

  1. East Windsor Will Participate in Annual Stony Brook – Millstone Watershed Association Stream Cleanup on Saturday, April 13, from 9 am to 11 am, at Etra Lake Park, rain or shine. Volunteers should wear boots and long sleeves and bring work gloves, if possible. Adults must accompany minors. Supplies, t-shirts and refreshments will be provided. East Windsor Township and the Stony Brook – Millstone Watershed Association are co-sponsoring this event.   3. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Was Joined by New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno in hosting a New Jersey League of Municipalities-sponsored special business event held at the East Windsor Senior Center on March 5. The event, attended by State and local officials and members of the business community, was initiated to provide specific information on State resources, financial tools and incentives available to local officials to help support and attract business. Lieutenant Governor Guadagno assembled a panel of representatives for the event from various State agencies to speak about the many programs and tools they offer to the business community. Participating agencies included the New Jersey Business Action Center, the Economic Development Authority, the Department of Community Affairs, the Treasurer’s Office, the State Library, the Board of Public Utilities and the Small Business Development Center.

The East Windsor/Hightstown Lions Club will be collecting used eye glasses. The Rescue Mission of Trenton will have trucks on-site to collect used furniture, clothing, blankets and working household appliances and electronics. NJ Turnpike Authority Anticipates Closure of Old York Road (County Route 539) to Through Traffic Between Pemberton Lane and Windsor-Perrineville Road for Two Days on Tuesday, March 19 and Friday, March 22, between 8 am and 5 pm, weather permitting. The closure is to facilitate the pouring of the concrete for the new bridge over the New Jersey Turnpike as part of the Turnpike widening project. Signs will be posted detouring vehicles around the road closure by way of Route 130, Conover Road and Windsor-Perrineville Road.

  9. East Windsor Is Soliciting Nominations for the Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer. The annual award is to recognize a senior citizen who has exhibited outstanding service through volunteerism to the community by way of the schools, religious institutions, service organizations or directly to the public. Nominees must be at least 60 years of age and residents of East Windsor. Nomination forms, due by April 12, are available at the municipal building, on-line at the Township website www.east-windsor.nj.us or by calling the Municipal Clerk’s office at 443-4000, ext. 240.

  10. Free Gun Safety Locks Are Available to Township Residents During March as part of a Township Sponsored Gun Safety Program. The Township is sponsoring this proactive safety initiative to promote improved gun safety, as these gun locks if properly used can help keep guns out of the hands of children and prevent accidental deaths and injuries in the home. The gun locks are available to East Windsor at no cost through Project Child Safe, a national firearms safety program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Free gun safety locks can be obtained at the Township police building by contacting Detective Brian Gorski at (609) 448-5678, ext. 236.

  11. Township and Mercer County Hold Special Passport Day on Thursday, April 4 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard). Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello are sponsoring this special Passport Day locally at which the Mercer County Clerk’s Office will process United States passport applications on-site for residents. Residents can just show up, but are encouraged to call 609-989-6465 to reserve a specific appointment time. To apply, residents will need: (1) proof of U.S. citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate, a U.S. naturalization certificate or a previous U.S. passport, and (2) proof of identity in the form of a current driver’s license or state issued identification card. Cost of the passport is $110 for adults, and $80 for minors, plus a processing fee of $25. Passport photos can be taken on-site if needed for $15 or $10 for senior citizens. Only checks or money orders will be accepted.   12. Annual East Windsor Egg Hunt Is Scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at 9 am at Etra Lake Park (rain date Sunday, March 24 at 1 pm). The egg hunt is for children in pre-school through grade 5. This annual event features lots of candy, prizes and fun! There is no fee or registration, but each child should bring a basket or bag. To avoid a last minute traffic jam at the park entrance, plan to arrive early. If inclement weather, call 443-4000, ext. 400 for information.

  13. Mercer County Holds Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, March 23 from 9 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, at the Sun National Bank Center – Lot 1, at 80 Hamilton Avenue, Trenton (intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Route 129).   14. Mercer County Will Begin Replacement of the Route 571 Bridge Over Big Bear Brook in West Windsor Township, on or about March 18. This bridge is located on Princeton-Hightstown Road (County Route 571), approximately 1½ miles west of the East Windsor Township border and near the intersection of Rabbit Hill Road. Project work, anticipated to continue for about 9 months, will take place Monday to Friday, 8 am to 3:30 pm, and Saturday, 8 am to 3:30 pm. During the project, County Route 571 will be reduced from a four lane road to a two lane road in the area of the bridge construction, with one lane of traffic being maintained in each direction, and delays may be expected.

East Windsor Will Participate in "Operation Medicine Cabinet" on Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 2 pm. "Operation Medicine Cabinet" is a program sponsored by the New Jersey office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) offering residents the opportunity to dispose of all unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in a safe manner. The Township will have a drop box in the lobby of the police building, located at 80 One Mile Road, for the collection of these various medications. Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal. “Operation Medicine Cabinet” provides a secure and legal means to dispose of these prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reduces possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs.

  3. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Participated in the American Red Cross of Central Jersey "Mayors for Meals" Day on March 20. The program is part of national American Red Cross month and the national “March for Meals” campaign which aims to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Through the program, Mayors across the country show their support for the Meals on Wheels program in their respective communities by delivering meals to seniors. The local Meals on Wheels program provides home-delivered meals in East Windsor and other surrounding municipalities, Monday through Friday. The program is made possible by the generous and kind support of volunteers who deliver the meals and provide daily contact to the homebound and elderly.   4. East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaimed April 8, 2013 a Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust, Known Internationally as Yom HaShoah. Locally, a Yom HaShoah service will be held on Sunday, April 7 at 7:30 pm at Beth El Synagogue (50 Maple Stream Road). Cantor David Wisnia, a survivor of Auschwitz Concentration Camp, will be the guest speaker. The service will include various responsive readings, including members of the Beth El USY, a video presentation by Amy Perlman, a candle lighting ceremony by family members of Holocaust survivors and a special Holocaust Kaddish. The Mayoral Proclamation proclaims Yom Hashoah, “in memory of the victims, survivors and their liberators, and in furtherance of the hopes that we, as a Township and as individual citizens, will strive to overcome prejudice, hatred and indifference through education, tolerance, vigilance and remembrance.”

  5. Mayor Janice S. Mironov to Present State of the Township Address at Mid-State Jersey Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, Wednesday, May 8 at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor, located at 399 Monmouth Street. Mayor Mironov’s annual State of the Township Address will include a report on accomplishments in 2012 as well as 2013 Township goals. Networking begins at 11:30 am, followed by lunch at noon, and program beginning promptly at 12:45 pm. All members of the business community are invited to attend. The cost of this luncheon is $35 per member paying in advance, $40 at the door, and $55 for non-members. Mironov and Local Officials, in Recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), Hosted a Tree Lighting Ceremony with representatives of Womanspace, including program coordinator Alison Daks. The tree, which sits along One Mile Road outside the East Windsor Police/Court Building, was decorated with teal lights to symbolize the community’s commitment to sexual assault awareness, deterrence and prevention. This year’s theme for SAAM is “Choose Respect.” Womanspace is the primary Mercer County based organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

  5. East Windsor Promotes Township Memorial Tree Program for Arbor Day. Residents and groups are encouraged to honor Arbor Day, celebrated on April 27, by planting a tree in the Township Memorial Tree Grove, housed on the municipal building grounds. The Memorial Tree Program offers residents a unique opportunity to provide a living memorial to a deceased relative or friend or in remembrance or commemoration of a special person, group or event. The tree, including tree planting and accompanying granite marker with the name of the deceased person or event to be remembered, can be ordered through the Public Works Department.   6. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaimed the Month of April "Alcohol Awareness Month" and presented a Mayoral Proclamation and a $1,000 check from a grant awarded to the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse to East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School After Prom Committee Co-Chairpersons Linda Heller and Nancy Solarski. Mayor Mironov praised members of the After Prom Committee for their excellent efforts in providing a safe and substance free environment for the young people in our community on their special prom night.

  8. Arbor Day Foundation Names East Windsor a Tree City USA® Community for 2013 for its commitment to community forestry. East Windsor, for the 13th year, has earned this national designation by meeting the four standards set by the Arbor Day Foundation: having a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance. The program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

Mayor Mironov Recognized Elementary School Winners of the Township Earth Day Recycling Poster Contest at the April 16 Council Meeting. The poster contest theme was to promote the 4 R’s of the Township Recycling Program: “Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, Rebuy.” Winners, selected by a committee consisting of Edward Kelley (Planning Board Chairperson and Environmental Commission member), Leslie Koppel (Executive Director of RISE) and Chief of Police James Monahan, received Mayoral Certificates of Recognition and gift certificates for Barnes and Noble, donated by corporate sponsor Shiseido America.

  1. REMINDER: On Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 2 pm East Windsor Will Participate in "Operation Medicine Cabinet," a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) program offering residents the opportunity to dispose of all unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in a safe manner. The Township will have a drop box in the lobby of the police building, located at 80 One Mile Road, for the collection of these various medications.

  3. Retro Fitness Will Be Opening in the Windsor Hights Shopping Center, located at the corner of Route 130 South and Princeton Hightstown Road (County Route 571), slated for late summer. Retro Fitness, known for its low-cost, high-value fitness center concept, will move into the 12,500 square foot space formerly occupied by a fitness center. The company plans to update the space with a prototype design that has been successful nationwide. Founded in 2004, Retro Fitness has evolved from a regional Northeast gym into a national fitness system with more than 120 centers open or in development in 10 states. New Jersey locations include Bordentown and East Brunswick. New Shopping Center owners, Advance Realty, who purchased the property in July 2012, has been aggressive in new leasing and will be making physical improvements to the Center.

  4. Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed National Volunteer Week April 21 to 27 and Recognized the East Windsor Township Commission on Aging and Senior Center Volunteers. Mayor Mironov praised the members of the Commission on Aging for assisting in the development, coordination and integration of many programs and services available to local senior citizens. The Mayor also thanked and presented Certificates of Appreciation to volunteers to the Township Senior Center for their valuable contributions.

  5. East Windsor Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Tree Seedlings on Saturday, May 4 (rain date May 11) beginning at 9 am to 12 pm or until supplies run out. The Norway Spruce seedlings will be available on a first-come first-serve basis at the East Windsor Police Athletic Fields on Airport Road.

  6. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Presented Proclamation for April -"National Donate Life" Month to Terry and heart transplant recipient Mark Meade. National Donate Life Month, sponsored by the NJ Sharing Network, represents a national effort to support and raise awareness for organ and tissue donation and transplantation, enabling surgeons to save thousands of lives every year. Donors not only give the gift of life, but also often restore health and sight to tissue and organ recipients. For further information or how to become an organ donor, visitwww.njsharingnetwork.org.

  7. East Windsor Proclaimed National Library Week April 14 to 20 with the Theme "Communities Matter @ Your Library" and recognized the two East Windsor branches of the Mercer County Library system. Mayor Janice S. Mironov presented the Proclamation, along with Barnes and Noble gift certificates donated by Shiseido America, to representatives of the two libraries. The two libraries were recognized as key centers within our communities, which provide valuable access to many diverse resources and serve as a center for community group meetings.

  8. East Windsor Participated in Annual Stony Brook – Millstone Watershed Association Stream Cleanup on Saturday, April 13. Sixty-two volunteers participated and 522 pounds of trash was collected at Etra Lake Park.

  1. East Windsor Township Was Awarded a $249,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation Grant for Roadway Improvements to Yorkshire Drive. The funding, successfully obtained by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members, will be used for milling and resurfacing of Yorkshire Drive from Oak Creek Road to Wiltshire Drive, as well as repairs to curbs, driveway aprons and handicapped ramps. The construction work will be undertaken over the summer.

  2. East Windsor Township Was Awarded a $124,000 Transportation Enhancements Grant by the New Jersey Department of Transportation for Princeton Hightstown Road (County Route 571).The Streets to Transit grant will be used to develop sidewalks and related improvements along Princeton Hightstown Road. The goal of the Transportation Enhancement Program is to foster more livable communities by promoting more alternative modes of transportation.

  3. Hightstown-East Windsor Memorial Day Parade Is Monday, May 27, and will kick-off at 9 am on Stockton Street and proceed through the center of Hightstown. The annual community event will feature many local groups including veterans associations, rescue squads and fire companies, school musical groups, scout organizations, religious organizations and other area participants. A brief service and wreath laying ceremony will take place at 8:30 am on the grounds of the East Windsor Municipal Building, at the Marc Seiden memorial. At the completion of the parade, refreshments will be served at VFW Post 5700 on Dutch Neck Road.

  4. East Windsor Township 2012 Business Awards Presented to Dairy Queen, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Pak Mail by Mayor Janice Mironov. These awards were made to three Township small businesses which have exhibited commendable local spirit and been strong participants and supporters of the community, by way of contributions to organizations as East Windsor PAL, HEWYBL, local Fire Companies, East Windsor Regional School District events, East Windsor Senior Center, East Windsor Clean Communities events, and East Windsor National Night Out. Dairy Queen, operated by George Vardakis, will celebrate 50 years in East Windsor in 2014. Moe’s Southwest Grill, operated by Bhadresh Patel, opened in 2007. Pak Mail, owned by Michael Baskin, just celebrated 5 years in East Windsor. The purpose of the annual award program is to recognize local businesses that have made special efforts to improve or contribute to the community.

  5. Route 130/Hankins Road/Conover Road Intersection Improvements Are Advancing, with fully engineered construction plans completed and all necessary permits and applications filed with the NJ Department of Transportation (DOT) and NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Previously, the DOT had approved a preliminary concept plan for the project, and the DEP has issued a wetlands Letter of Interpretation. The plan, long advocated by East Windsor officials as a safety improvement and to facilitate traffic flow, would re-align the intersection so that Route 130, Hankins Road and Conover Road would meet at a single point controlled by the traffic signal and allow for all left-turn movements. All engineering design costs are being paid for by a Township developer funded transportation improvement program.

  6. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Presented the Annual State of East Windsor Township Address on May 8 at a meeting of the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce held at the Holiday Inn East Windsor. The Mayor’s address included updates on commercial development, new business openings, environmental and open space projects and goals, roadway and transportation improvements, and other Township projects. The address can be viewed on the Township website (CLICK HERE) or on Spotlight East Windsor, beginning May 15, on Comcast Cable Channel 27 and Verizon Channel 38.

  7. East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Hightstown Mayor Steven Kirson Co-Hosted the Better Beginnings Shining Star Charity Gala, and recognized six individuals/businesses/groups as 2013 "Shining Star" honorees for their contributions to the community. Mayor Mironov and Mayor Kirson presented "Shining Star" Awards to:Marsha Weinstein, Lifetime Achievement Award; Loida Noriega Wilson, Individual Achievement Award; Jewish Family and Children’s Agency, Organization Award; East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School National Honor Society, Youth Group Award;Home Depot, Business Award, and Earnest L. Doggett, III, Alumnus Award. The gala event was a charity fundraiser for Better Beginnings, a local child care development center, which began in 1967 and provides pre-school, after school and summer programs to area children.

  8. Last Day to Register to Vote in the June 4 Primary Election is Tuesday, May 14. Pursuant to changes in the election laws, individuals can Vote by Mail with no reason required. The deadline to apply for vote by mail ballot is May 28. All mail ballots must be received by the County by the end of Election Day. Registration forms and vote by mail application forms can be obtained by visiting or calling the municipal building or at the public libraries or on-line at www.njelections.org. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk’s office at 443-4000, ext. 237.

  9. East Windsor Has Completed Restoration of Bear Brook Pathway,between the bridge at the Hickory Corner Library and Oak Creek Road. This section of pathway was damaged by Storm Sandy, so the work was paid for by $13,512 in Federal Emergency Management Agency funds.

  10. “Click It Or Ticket” Seat Belt Campaign Funded by $4,000 Grantfrom the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety (NJDHTS), will run from May 20 to June 2. The NJDHTS 2013 “Click It or Ticket” seat belt campaign, is a statewide campaign aimed at increasing compliance with State law that requires the use of seat belts. These funds will be used to pay the salaries of Township police officers who will be assigned patrol activities directed toward the identification and ticketing of motorists who fail to use seat belts as required by State law.

  2. Scoopers Gourmet Ice Cream Opens in the Wawa Shopping Centeron Hickory Corner Road, just west of Route 130 South. The 1,000 square foot store, owned and operated by Jason Nardoza and Dawn Martin, is located between Moe’s Southwest Grill and Windsor Green Cleaners. Scoopers Gourmet Ice Cream has available seating for up to 40 patrons and serves an assortment of treats including Thomas Sweet ice cream, frozen yogurt and sugar free varieties. Current hours of operation are 11:30 am to 10 pm daily.

  3. East Windsor Awarded 2013 Clean Communities Grant of $45,473. NJ Clean Communities is a state-wide litter abatement program created by State legislation and managed by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the Clean Communities Council. The Clean Communities Act establishes a funding mechanism for the program by placing a user fee on manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors who produce litter-generating products.

  4. Primary Election Day Is Tuesday, June 4. Polls are open from 6 am to 8 pm. For further information, including polling locations, call (609) 443-4000, ext. 240.

  5. East Windsor Recreation Department Summer Camp Registration is Ongoing. A variety of recreational day and travel camps are offered for students entering grades K-10: the Sunny Day Camp for children entering kindergarten and Grade 1; the Recreation Day Camp for children entering Grade 2 through Grade 6; the Junior Travel Camp for children entering Grade 4 through Grade 6, and the Senior Travel Camp for children entering Grade 7 through Grade 10. Camp Care for before and after care of students is also available for an additional fee.   1. East Windsor Independence Day Celebration Will Be Held on Wednesday, July 3 (rain date Friday, July 5) at Etra Lake Park. The US Sports Institute, in Association with the East Windsor Recreation Department, is Offering Summer Sports Camps at Etra Lake Park. The sports camps, open to children ages 3 to 14 of all abilities, offer the opportunity to play over 15 different sports from around the world in one fun packed week. The US Sports Institute has provided camps and year-round programs for over 500 organizations in the USA for over the past 10 years.   4. Township Officials Launch East Windsor Bicycle Safety Program "Congratulations! You Are Obeying the Law."During this program, which runs from June 1 through July 31, Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members along with Township police officers will distribute form summonses to youngsters, recognizing children wearing bicycle helmets. The form will ask the young person to sign a pledge "to use a safety helmet when using a bicycle, skateboard or rollerblades," which will enable them to be entered in a drawing for prizes, to take place on Tuesday, August 7 at the Township "National Night Out" celebration.

  5. East Windsor Sponsors “Beatlemania” Concert on Sunday, July 21 at 6 pm at Etra Lake Park (rain date Sunday, July 28). The Beatlemania group will remember the exciting pop rock era of the 1960’s when the Beatles dominated the music charts all over the world, performing all-time Beatles favorites including "All My Loving," "Can’t Buy Me Love," "Eight Days a Week," and many more.   6. Central Jersey Waste and Recycling is the New Contractor for Township Recycling Collection, Effective June 5. Based on their lower public bid, the new contractor will save the Township approximately $2,000 per month during the five year term of their contract. There is no change to the schedule and residents are reminded to leave their recycling curbside by 7 a.m.

  7. No Township Waste Collection Will Occur on Thursday, July 4 due to the Township holiday. Residents of Area #1, who would normally have their household waste collected on Thursday, July 4, may put their household waste out on the next regularly scheduled collection date which is Monday, July 8.   2. East Windsor Planning Board Approves Panera Bread, to be constructed on the pad site adjacent to Chase Bank on Route 130 South. The approved project consists of a new modern 4,100 square foot building, a drive-thru, 82 parking spaces and front patio seating available from May to October. Founded in 1993, Panera Bread is a casual bakery-café which offers several varieties of breads, bagels, muffins, cold sandwiches, hot paninis, salads and soups. The company, which is headquartered in Sunset Hills, Missouri, has nearly 1,700 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

  3. Zaffarese Physical Therapy Has Expanded Their Offices, located in the Carduner Shopping Center at the corner of Route 130 South and Princeton Hightstown Road. The physical therapy practice, owned by East Windsor resident Steven Zaffarese, expanded their 1,800 square foot office to a 3,600 square foot office, utilizing adjacent available space in the shopping center.   1. Be Reminded Special Election for U.S. Senate Set for Wednesday, October 16. The Special Primary Election is set for Tuesday, August 13. The last day to Register to Vote in the Special Primary Election is Tuesday, July 23. Individuals can Vote by Mail with no reason required. The last day to apply for Vote by Mail ballot in the Special Primary Election is Tuesday, August 6 by mail, andMonday, August 12 by 3 pm if in person. All mail ballots must be received by the County by the end of Election Day. Registration forms and vote by mail application forms can be obtained on-line atwww.njelections.org or by visiting the municipal building or the public libraries. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk’s office at 443-4000, ext. 240.

  2. Contract Awarded for Improvements to Yorkshire Drive to Lucas Construction Group, Inc. of Morganville, New Jersey. The award was to the lowest bid through an open public bidding process. The project is funded by a $249,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant. The work, consisting of milling and resurfacing, as well as repairs to curbs, driveway aprons and handicapped ramps, will be undertaken over the summer before the commencement of school.

  3. East Windsor Has Completed Restoration of Sidewalks Damaged By Storm Sandy throughout the Township. The work, paid for by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds, was performed by low bid contractor Zomparelli Contractors, of Trenton, New Jersey.

  4. Emergency Medical Services Week Proclaimed and EMT’s of the Year, Hollis DaSilva and Melissa Raczka, Recognized.Mayor Janice S. Mironov acknowledged and praised by Proclamations all Township emergency medical services volunteers of East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 1 and District 2 for their exemplary service, and recognized East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I "EMT of the Year"Hollis DaSilva and East Windsor Rescue Squad, District II "EMT of the Year" Melissa Raczka. Hollis DaSilva, who joined Rescue Squad, District I as a Cadet in 2008, became an adult member in 2010, earned his Emergency Medical Technician certification in 2011, is an active riding member and undergoing training in vehicle rescue operations. Hollis DaSilva is directly responsible for two adult CPR saves and has assisted other volunteers in responding to emergency medical service needs. Melissa Raczka, who joined Rescue Squad, District II in 2010, completed her emergency medical technician basic training in 2012 and currently serves as Secretary of the Executive Board. Melissa Raczka played a vital role in the community’s response to Storm Sandy, as she made herself available to cover shifts during and immediately after the storm so the Rescue Squad could ensure 24 hour ambulance coverage during the restoration and recovery period.

Current Contractor Irvin Raphael, Inc. of East Brunswick Will Continue to Operate Township Princeton Junction Shuttle Bus. Based on their low bid, Irvin Raphael’s contract will run from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. The contract is bid yearly, and this is the sixth year in a row that the winning bid was lower than the previous year. East Windsor’s Shuttle Bus program to and from the Princeton Junction train station, as well as the Township Community Bus program, is underwritten by annual grants from the Federal Transportation Administration and NJ Transit. Many community groups and area businesses will host booths with information and giveaways supporting the National Night Out theme. Additionally, areas will be set up for issuance of identification cards for children, fire hose demonstrations, as well as face painting, a moon bounce and rock climbing wall for children. Music and prizes will be provided by New Jersey Radio 101.5. There will be live music by local bands, and refreshments will be available.   1. Windsor Grand Café Opens in the former Clairmont Diner, located on Route 130 North, just south of Princeton Hightstown Road. The new restaurant, co-owned by restaurant partners Jimmy Manetas and Basil Karakatsanis, has been remodeled so that the interior includes a new dining area and a separate modern lounge area with large screen televisions. Jimmy Manetas also owns and operates Mastoris Diner and Town and Country Diner in Bordentown and Landmark Diner in Edison. Basil Karakatsanis formerly owned and operated Basil’s Lamb Chop & Mediterranean Grille in the Days Inn on Route 33 in East Windsor. Windsor Grand Café offers a Mediterranean American menu featuring an assortment of dishes including various selections of chicken, fish, steaks, pork, lamb and pasta. A brunch menu also is offered on Saturday and Sunday. Current hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 12 midnight, and Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. Yorkshire Drive Improvements Anticipated to Begin During the Week of July 22. The work, consisting of milling and resurfacing, as well as repairs to curbs, driveway aprons and handicapped ramps, is scheduled to be completed by September 1. Residents should expect temporary parking restrictions and some travel delays throughout construction. Homeowners whose driveway aprons are being repaired will receive a hand-delivered notice from the contractor confirming the date of the work. The project, funded by a $249,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant, is being completed by low bid contractor Lucas Construction Group, Inc. of Morganville, New Jersey.

  5. Bottom Dollar Food Grocery Store Will Be Opening in the Windsor Hights Shopping Center, located at the corner of Route 130 South and Princeton Hightstown Road (County Route 571), slated for late fall. The food market, which offers customers a wide assortment of national brand grocery items, is occupying 22,500 square feet of the former Super Fresh space. The company plans to update the store with a prototype design that has been successful in their other locations. Founded in 2005, Bottom Dollar Food has evolved from a North Carolina-based store into a regional chain with 54 stores open in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. New Jersey locations include Cherry Hill and Bordentown. New shopping center owners, Advance Realty, which purchased the property in July 2012, have been aggressive in new leasing and will be making physical improvements to the center.

  6. Shiseido America Holds Ribbon-Cutting for Expansion in East Windsor Township. Mayor Janice S. Mironov joined Shiseido Executives -- Shiseido Company Japan Corporate Officer and Head of Global Supply Chain Kiyoshi Ishimoto, Shiseido America President and Chief Operating Officer Edward Houlihan, and Shiseido America Senior Vice President of Technical and Quality Assurance Yoshikuni Fukuchi -- along with Council Members Hector Duke, Perry Shapiro, Peter Yeager and John Zoller, to cut the ribbon for the company’s 72,988 square foot two-phase expansion of the existing 211,000 square foot facility on Princeton-Hightstown Road. The Japanese-based global cosmetics and skin care company, which has about 150 full time employees and up to an additional 150 temporary employees, will add ten full time employees with the expansion. Phase I includes a 54,580 square foot office addition to the existing warehouse building, while Phase II includes an 18,408 square foot addition behind the existing office building, plus there will be additional parking and an expanded loading area.

  1. East Windsor Sponsors "Real Diamonds" Concert on Sunday, August 11 at 6 pm at Etra Lake Park (rain date Sunday, August 18). Real Diamonds is a ten-musician band who will perform tributes to all of the most popular Neil Diamond songs including "Kentucky Woman," "Cracklin’ Rosie," "Sweet Caroline," and "America."   3. Be Reminded Special Election for U.S. Senate Set for Wednesday, October 16. The Special Primary Election is set for Tuesday, August 13. Individuals can Vote by Mail with no reason required. The last day to apply for Vote by Mail ballot in the Special Primary Election is Tuesday, August 6 by mail, and Monday, August 12 by 3 pm if in person. All mail ballots must be received by the County by the end of Election Day. Registration forms and vote by mail application forms can be obtained on-line at www.njelections.org or by visiting the municipal building or the public libraries.   4. To qualify, a senior must live in New Jersey continuously for at least 10 years, owned or lived in his/her home or mobile home for at least the last 3 years, paid the full amount of property taxes or site fees due for the base year and each succeeding year for which the reimbursement is claimed, and had a gross income for 2011 of $80,000 or less and for 2012 of $82,880 or less. East Windsor Is Seeking Nominations for the 2013 Township Business Awards Program. The purpose of the program is to recognize local businesses that make special efforts to improve or contribute to the community. The three categories of Township award recognition are: (1) Business Beautification – creating an attractive appearance, for example, through landscaping, flowers, and other enhancements to their structures and site; (2) Community Service – providing for community contributions and service, and (3) Community Enhancement – providing some manner of community enhancement, for example, through extraordinary job creation, an unusual or special product or opportunity or any community value added aspect related to their business. Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Building and at the Hickory Corner and Twin Rivers branch public libraries, and on-line at the Township website at (CLICK HERE). The deadline for nominations is September 17. A Selection Committee will review all nominations and select the winning businesses.

  3. East Windsor Township Celebrated "National Night Out," on August 6, attended by well over 2,000 people. East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov issued and presented to East Windsor Crime Watch volunteer members a Mayoral Proclamation stating, "National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and foremost send a strong message to criminals letting them know that the community and police have joined together in fighting crime." The event is coordinated annually to demonstrate the commitment of East Windsor Township in promoting a cooperative partnership between police, local government and citizens to vigilance and crime prevention throughout the East Windsor community.

East Windsor Awarded $4,400 "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 2013 Statewide Labor Day Crackdown" Enforcement Grant. The grant, received from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, is to underwrite salaries of police officers for added enforcement activities directed at the detection and apprehension of intoxicated drivers. The program, which runs from mid-August through the first week of September, is a statewide campaign aimed at improving public safety by encouraging responsible driving.

  5. East Windsor Township Will Hold Recycling Day on Saturday, September 28 from 10 am to 2 pm, at the East Windsor Senior Center, located at 40 Lanning Boulevard. This Township event is sponsored by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Members of Council, in conjunction with the East Windsor Clean Communities Committee. Free document shredding will be available to East Windsor residents. There is a limit of ten boxes per household, and no commercial drop-offs are permitted. Residents also will be able to drop off cell phones, fluorescent bulbs and toner cartridges, as well as used electronics, computers, computer equipment and televisions. The East Windsor/Hightstown Lions Club will be collecting used eye glasses. The Rescue Mission of Trenton will have trucks on-site to collect clothing and working household appliances and electronics. For further information, call 443-4000, ext. 215.

  6. Deadline for Applications for "The Property Tax Freeze" for Seniors Extended to September 16, 2013. Homeowners who were 65 or older or 100% disabled in 2011 and received Federal Social Security benefits may be eligible for this program that establishes a base year for property taxes and reimburses the homeowner for any increase in the future tax years.   1. Township Completes Yorkshire Drive Improvements. The work included milling and resurfacing of the entire roadway, as well as repairs to curbs, driveway aprons and handicapped ramps. The project, funded by a $249,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant, was performed by low bid contractor Lucas Construction Group, Inc. of Morganville, New Jersey.

  1. New Jersey Turnpike Finally Opening Bridge Over Route 33 Linking Route 133 and Interchange 8 on or about September 12, weather permitting. With the bridge opening, part of the Turnpike Widening Program, motorists exiting the Turnpike will be able to directly access Route 133 westbound, and motorists traveling eastbound on Route 133 will be able to directly access the Turnpike at Interchange 8. These drivers will no longer be required to cross Route 33 using the traffic signal underneath. All other movements in this area are unaffected.   2. Brief Wreath-Laying Ceremony for Anniversary of 9/11 Will Be Held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 5:45 pm to remember and honor the anniversary of September 11. Residents under 60 with chronic medical conditions, i.e. diabetes, asthma, cardiac issues, etc., who cannot obtain the flu shot from their primary medical doctor also will be eligible with a note from their doctor. The pneumonia vaccine also is being offered free for Township residents over 65. The vaccinations are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call the Township Health Department at 443-4000, ext. 222. Anyone in need of transportation can call the Senior Center at 371-7192.

  4. Arrowpac Inc. Has Relocated to 85 Twin Rivers Drive, beween Lake Drive and Milford Road, in East Windsor. The company is utilizing the nearly 77,000 square foot building as a warehouse distribution center with accompanying office and storage space. Arrowpac, which has been in operation since 1980, is relocating their distribution center from Jersey City to the 6.6 acre property in East Windsor, to be closer to the Philadelphia ports. The company, which currently has approximately 100 employees total, will begin their East Windsor operations with 7 employees, then adding approximately 12 employees to complete the transition. Arrowpac is the leading freight forwarder offering less than truckload (LTL) shipping and truckload ocean and air door-to-door service between the Continental U.S, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean Islands.

  6. Mercer County Household Chemical and Used Electronic Waste Collection Event Will Be Held on Saturday, September 21, from 8 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, at the John T. Dempster Fire School, located on Bakers Basin/Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township. No registration is required, just proof of Mercer County residency. Residents can dispose of aerosol cans, used motor oil, propane gas tanks, pesticides, herbicides, car batteries, paint thinner, oil based paint, gasoline, anti-freeze, driveway sealer, insect repellents, and fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. Used electronic equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines, printers, stereos, televisions and microwaves also will be accepted.   7. East Windsor Township Is Seeking High School Students to Serve as Student Members of Township Boards and Commissions. The board and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. JCP&L Offers Customers Sign-Up for New Outage Alert and Update System. To register, residents can visitwww.firstenergycorp.com/connect, and on the right hand side of the web page under "Quick Links," select "Alert notifications via email or text messaging." Then select "set up an online account," which is approximately one third of the way down the page. Residents will need their JCP&L account number to complete the short registration process. Note that registrants can choose whether or not to receive other JCP&L news and updates. A verification email is sent once the registration is completed.

  2. Township Seniors Are Invited to the East Windsor Township Senior Center 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 21 at 10:30 am at the Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard).   6. Oath of Office Administered to New Police Officer Timothy Purpuri, who fills a police vacancy. Officer Purpuri, who has been assigned to the Uniform Services Division, graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy in 2011 and is currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree at Ocean County College. He previously served as a police officer for Allentown Borough and a special officer for the Ocean Gate police department.

Ground Round Sports Grille Opened on September 23 in the former Finnegan’s Restaurant at East Windsor Recreation Centers (bowling center) located on Route 130 North, south of Uncle Bob’s Self Storage. Ground Round Sports Grille, known for casual family dining, renovated the restaurant with a new façade, redesigned lounge area, new signage and site improvements including a new parking lot and landscaping. Founded in 1969, Ground Round now has over 30 locations nationwide, including a new location in Bradley Beach, New Jersey. Current hours of operation are 11:30am to Midnight.

  4. East Windsor and Mercer County Have Scheduled a Special Passport Day on Tuesday, October 8, from 10 am to 3 pm at the Municipal Building, located at 16 Lanning Boulevard. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello are sponsoring this special Passport Day, at which the Mercer County Clerk’s Office will process United States Passport applications locally for residents. Residents are encouraged to reserve an appointment by calling 609-989-6465. To apply, residents will need: (1) proof of US citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate; a U.S. naturalization certificate or a previous U.S. passport, and (2) proof of identity in the form of a current driver’s license or state issued identification card. The cost of the passport is $110 for adults and $80 for minors, plus a processing fee of $25 (separate checks). Passport photos will be available for $15 or $10 for senior citizens. Only checks or money orders will be accepted; no cash or credit cards.   5. Panera Bread Has Begun Site Work and Construction of the new restaurant on the pad site adjacent to Chase Bank on Route 130 South. Panera Bread, projected for completion in early 2014, weather permitting, will be a new 4,100 square foot building, with a drive-thru and front patio seating available from May to October. Founded in 1993, Panera Bread is a casual bakery-café which offers several varieties of breads, bagels, muffins, cold sandwiches, hot paninis, salads and soups. The company, headquartered in Sunset Hills, Missouri, has nearly 1,700 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

  6. East Windsor Offers Free Flu Clinics on Wednesday, October 2 and Thursday, October 3 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Township Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), for all residents 60 and older. Residents under 60 with chronic medical conditions, i.e. diabetes, asthma, cardiac issues, etc., who cannot obtain the flu shot from their primary medical doctor also will be eligible with a note from their doctor. The pneumonia vaccine also is being offered free for Township residents over 65. The vaccinations are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call the Township Health Department at 443-4000, ext. 222. Anyone in need of transportation can call the Senior Center at 371-7192.

  7. East Windsor Township Celebrated 10th Anniversary of the Township Senior Center on Saturday, September 21. The formal program included: musical selections by East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 member Harvey Bailey, and remarks and presentations by: Joan Gordon, Past President of the East Windsor-Hightstown Senior Club; Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes; State Senator Linda Greenstein; Ondina Jeffers, Chairperson, Commission on Aging, and Mayor Janice Mironov. First, second, and third place winners will receive a Barnes and Noble gift certificate donated by Shiseido in the amount of $75, $50, and $25 respectively. Written ideas should be left by Thursday, October 24 at the Kreps School Administrative Office or the East Windsor Municipal Building Mayor’s Office. Please be certain that the back of each written idea contains the student’s name, address, phone number, school and grade level. Winners will be notified and awards presented by East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov at a fall Council meeting.

  1. REMINDER: East Windsor and Mercer County Have Scheduled a Special Passport Day on Tuesday, October 8, from 10 am to 3 pm at the Municipal Building, located at 16 Lanning Boulevard.   2. Township Completes and Opens New Grant-Funded Disbrow Hill Trail. The new trail, which is about eight feet wide, provides over one mile of bicycle path, looping around the new Disbrow Hill Road playing fields and providing access to an adjacent 121 acre Township open space property to the south. Additionally, the Disbrow Hill Trail links some of the Township’s most popular recreational facilities, connecting to the existing Etra Lake Pathway, which runs from Etra Lake Park (across the roadway) to Lake Drive in Twin Rivers, as well as the existing 1.75 mile Etra Lake Park perimeter walking path, which is equipped with exercise stations. Funding for the pathway project was provided by a $100,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant and a $24,500 Recreational Trails program grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection/Federal Highway Administration.

  3. Innovative Logistics Relocates to Wyckoffs Mill Road, just north of Route 33, near the redesigned East Windsor Interchange 8 of the New Jersey Turnpike. Innovative Logistics, a global distribution company which provides support and distribution services for the publishing industry, has relocated to East Windsor from Lakewood to an available 84,000 square foot building. The company specializes in delivering sales and fulfillment services covering all aspects of book distribution for publishers who do not have their own infrastructure.   4. Last Day to Register to Vote in the November 5 General Election is Monday, October 14. Individuals can Vote by Mail. The deadline to apply for vote by mail ballot is Monday, October 28 by mail and Monday, November 4 by 3 pm if in person. Registration forms and vote by mail application forms can be obtained online at www.njelections.org. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk’s office at 443-4000, ext. 238.

  5. Mercer County Undertaking Roadway Improvements to Old Trenton Road, between the East Windsor/Cranbury Border Bridge and Princeton Hightstown Road, Commencing on or about October 14. The work is expected to take approximately 2 weeks, concluding on or about November 1. During actual work hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3:30 pm, Old Trenton Road will be closed to all traffic other than emergency vehicles and residents living on Old Trenton Road. The road will be fully open at other times and on weekends. Residents along One Mile Road will be impacted by limited access to Old Trenton Road during construction hours: These residents should proceed south toward Princeton Hightstown Road. Residents traveling toward West Windsor can then proceed right onto Princeton Hightstown Road. Residents traveling toward Cranbury can then proceed left onto Princeton Hightstown Road then left onto Route 130 North. Since work will start near the bridge and proceed in the direction of Princeton Hightstown Road, right turns only, from One Mile Road onto Old Trenton Road, should be permitted within two to three days after construction commences. East Windsor Police Athletic League Little League Girls 9/10 Softball All-Star Team, 2013 New Jersey State Champions and 2013 Eastern Regional Champions, was honored by East Windsor Township at the October 8 Council meeting. Mayor Janice Mironov issued a Mayoral Proclamation, presented championship medals and unveiled a roadway sign reading, "East Windsor Township, Proud Home of 2013 New Jersey State and 2013 Eastern Regional Champions, Girls 9/10 Softball, East Windsor PAL Little League."  This Girls 9/10 Softball Team is the first East Windsor PAL team and the first New Jersey team in their age group to win the Eastern Regional Championship. The Mayor recognized the players’ enormous skills and training, persistence, dedication and effective teamwork, making their family and entire community extremely proud. Congratulations to the 2013 New Jersey State and Eastern Regional Champions, Girls 9/10 Softball All-Star Team players: ABBY BELL, GINA BIBENS, ALLISON BRIDGMAN, MADDIE FRUNZI, NOELLE GEROSO, ASHLEY GIAMPOLO, ISABEL HULME, JACKIE MASONE, MEG REGAN, EMILY REINSTEIN, MELISSA WEINGAST andGINA ZAPPOLA, and their dedicated manager ROB BRIDGMANand coaches MIKE FRUNZI, MIKE HULME, PAUL REGAN andLORENZ GEROSO.

While no through traffic will be allowed beyond Woods Road, access to Woods Road will be open from Old York Road.   7. East Windsor Animal Hospital Opens in the DeGeorge Building on Route 33 East, between Prestige Diner and PNC Bank. East Windsor Animal Hospital offers a wide variety of veterinary services including wellness and vaccination programs to prevent illnesses, medical services for diagnosing and treating health conditions, spay and neuter surgeries and dental cleanings and treatment to avoid serious dental diseases.   3. Bottom Dollar Food Grocery Store is Opening on Thursday, October 24 at 8 am in Windsor Hights Shopping Center at southwest corner of Route 130 and Princeton Hightstown Road. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members will join Bottom Dollar Food executives at a grand opening ceremony beginning at 8 am. Retired Philadelphia Eagles football great Bill Bergey also will be on site signing autographs. Bottom Dollar Food, which offers customers a wide assortment of national brand grocery items, is occupying 22,500 square feet of the former Super Fresh space. Founded in 2005, Bottom Dollar Food now has 56 stores open in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. New Jersey locations include Cherry Hill and Bordentown. CLOSURE OF CONOVER ROAD TO BEGIN
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23

On Wednesday, October 23, East Windsor Is Scheduled to Begin Roadway Improvements to Conover Road, between Route 130 and Woods Road. The work, paid for by developer funds, is expected to take approximately 2 weeks, concluding mid-November, weather permitting.During actual work hours, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, Conover Road will be closed to all traffic other than emergency vehicles and residents living on Conover Road. The road will be fully open at other times and on weekends. For updates and detour map, visit Township website at http://east-windsor.nj.us.

  1. ALERT UPDATE -- CLOSURE OF OLD TRENTON ROAD:Mercer County Is Continuing Roadway Improvements to Old Trenton Road, between Princeton Hightstown Road and the East Windsor/Cranbury Border Bridge, projected to continue until mid-November. During actual work hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3:30 pm, Old Trenton Road will be closed to all traffic other than emergency vehicles and residents living on Old Trenton Road. The road will be fully open at other times and on weekends. Residents wishing to use the bridge toward Cranbury can proceed from One Mile Road and TURN RIGHT ONLY onto Old Trenton Road.   2. East Windsor Has Completed Resurfacing of Conover Road Which Is Open to Traffic in Both Directions. During the week of October 28, there will be some periodic delays due to minor shoulder work and striping. On or about November 1, all construction related activities on Conover Road are expected to be complete.

  3. East Windsor Township Is Now Accepting Credit Cards for 2013 4th Quarter November 1 Tax Payments. Residents can make credit card payments in person at the Tax Collector’s Office or online at (CLICK HERE) or visit the Township website at www.east-windsor.nj.us and click on the link near the top of the page. A credit card fee will be assessed by the company processing the transactions. For additional information contact the Tax Collector’s Office at 443-4000, ext. 231.

  4. Bottom Dollar Food Grocery Store Opens in Windsor Hights Shopping Center (now known as Windsor Center) at the southwest corner of Route 130 and Princeton Hightstown Road. Bottom Dollar Food, which offers customers a wide assortment of national brand grocery items, is occupying 22,500 square feet of the former Super Fresh space. Founded in 2005, Bottom Dollar Food now has 60 stores open in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. New Jersey locations include Bordentown, Hamilton and Cherry Hill. The entire Center is currently undergoing a renovated façade and signage. Current hours of operation are Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 10 pm and Sunday from 8 am to 9 pm.   5. Mercer County Offers Weekend Hours for Vote by MailVoters for the November 5 General Election. The Mercer County Clerk’s Election Office, located on the second floor of the Courthouse Annex at 209 South Broad Street, Trenton, will be open on Saturday, November 2 from 9 am to 1 pm and Sunday, November 3 from 12 noon to 4 pm, as well as Monday November 4 at 9 am. A ballot can be provided immediately on-site, however, the voted ballot must be returned to the Mercer County Board of Elections at 640 South Broad Street, Trenton. The Mercer County Board of Elections office will remain open an additional 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday to accept voted ballots. The deadline to apply in person for vote by mail ballot is Monday, November 4 by 3 pm.

  6. East Windsor Will Participate in Womanspace "Communities of Light" on Monday, December 9 to raise funds for domestic violence victim service provider Womanspace and raise public awareness about the important subject of domestic violence and available victim resources. Join with local elected officials and Township police on Monday, December 9 at 5 pm to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building, followed by refreshments. Citizens can participate by purchasing and bringing luminary kits to the event. The luminary kits can be purchased for $10 each at Fulton Bank, located at the northwest corner of Princeton Hightstown Road and Old Trenton Road. All proceeds will go directly to Womanspace, the primary Mercer County organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals affected by domestic violence and to improving the quality of life of abuse victims and their families. East Windsor Holds Free Rabies Clinics for dog and cat owners on Saturday, November 16 from 1 pm to 3 pm at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 at 51 One Mile Road and on Saturday, November 23 from 1 pm to 3 pm at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 at 69 Twin Rivers Drive. Owners will be required to show a certificate of previous rabies vaccination; otherwise vaccinations of one year duration only will be provided. For safety, all animals must be properly restrained by leash or carried.   8. East Windsor Honors Firefighters of the Year Gerald Laughlin and Adrian Ortiz for their volunteer fire service dedication. Gerald Laughlin of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and Adrian Ortiz of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 were presented with proclamations from Mayor Janice Mironov during “Fire Prevention Week.” Gerald Laughlin, currently serving as President, joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in 2009 and also has served as Engineer, Lieutenant and Vice President. He is active on the Awards, Special Events, Uniforms, Installation Dinner, Insurance and Parades/Memorials Committees, as well as serving as Chairperson of the Long Range Planning and Finance Committees. He also is one of the Company’s delegates to the Mercer County Fireman’s Association. Adrian Ortiz, currently serving as Vice President, joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 in 2011. Adrian Ortiz has responded to over 350 fire calls and attended over 100 training drills as well as numerous community events and prevention activities. He also has received awards for being a top responder, attending the most drills and the Knights of Columbus award.

Ross Dress for Less Will Be Opening in the Windsor Hights Shopping Center (n/k/a Windsor Center), at the southwest corner of Route 130 and Princeton Hightstown Road, joining other new stores Bottom Dollar grocery and Retro Fitness. The retailer, which is the largest off-price apparel and home fashion chain in the United States, will occupy the remaining 22,500 square feet of the former Super Fresh in 2014. Founded in 1957, Ross Dress for Less has evolved from a California-based store into a national chain with 1,112 locations in 33 states, including Princeton and Hamilton.

  3. Innovo Relocating to East Windsor to Patscenter Building on Princeton Hightstown Road (just east of Old Trenton Road). Innovo, a high-tech research and development company specializing in customized pharmaceuticals, is relocating from East Brunswick to the 43,000 square foot architecturally distinct Patscenter building. The Patscenter was designed by renowned British architect Sir Richard Rodgers, best known for the Pompidou Cultural Center in Paris. Innovo is performing internal upgrades and retrofit work, and is expecting to occupy the building by the end of this year.

  4. East Windsor Awarded $4,400 "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Enforcement Grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, to underwrite police officer salaries for added enforcement directed at intoxicated drivers. The program, which runs from December 6 through January 2, is a statewide campaign aimed at improving public safety by encouraging responsible driving during the year-end holiday season.

ALERT -- CLOSURES ON WARD STREETWard Street, at the Intersection of Etra Road, Will Be Closed for Approximately 10 Working Days, Commencing Monday, December 2 and Ending Friday, December 13, weather permitting. The closure is required by the NJ Turnpike Widening Program to realign Etra Road to the newly constructed bridge at Ward Street and Etra Road. A signed detour will be posted using Davison Road, Franklin Street (Route 33), South Main Street and Etra Road. Access to Ward Street, including the Township Recycling Facility, will only be available by using Route 33 to Davison Road to Ward Street. There will be no access to Ward Street from Etra Road or to Etra Road from Ward Street. During the closure, Etra Road will remain open in both directions with alternating traffic during working hours, from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.   3. Mercer County and Middlesex County Will Be Replacing the Millstone Road Bridge, Commencing on Monday, December 9, weather permitting, during which the bridge will be totally closedto through traffic for approximately 6 months. A signed detour using Old Trenton Road, Southfield Drive/Nostrand Drive and Cranbury Neck Road will be used during construction. Millstone Road/John White Road will be open to local traffic up to the bridge construction area.

Township Is Accepting Applications from Residents for Participation in East Windsor Community Garden. The new Community Garden, with initial planting to take place in April 2014, will be located on the Disbrow Hill Road open space property, adjacent to the Disbrow Hill playing fields and across from Etra Lake Park. The Community Garden will provide residents with the opportunity to rent a plot of land to plant their own fruits and vegetables. In addition to the individual plots, a philanthropic garden will be maintained by the East Windsor Green Team and other volunteers, for the purpose of sharing the garden’s produce with local needy families. SPECIAL NOTICE

  1. ALERT – MILLSTONE ROAD BRIDGE CLOSURE: Mercer County and Middlesex County Advise They Will Be Replacing the Millstone Road Bridge, Commencing on Wednesday, December 11, weather permitting, during which the bridge will betotally closed to through traffic for approximately 6 months. A signed detour using Old Trenton Road, Southfield Drive/Nostrand Drive and Cranbury Neck Road will be used during construction. Millstone Road/John White Road will be open to local traffic up to the bridge construction area.

  2. ALERT -- WARD STREET CLOSURE: Ward Street, at the Intersection of Etra Road, Remains Closed ThroughApproximately Wednesday, December 18, weather permitting. The closure is required by the NJ Turnpike Widening Program to realign Etra Road to the newly constructed bridge at Ward Street and Etra Road. A signed detour is posted using Davison Road, Franklin Street (Route 33), South Main Street and Etra Road. Access to Ward Street, including the Township Recycling Facility, is only available by using Route 33 to Davison Road to Ward Street. There is no access to Ward Street from Etra Road or to Etra Road from Ward Street. During the closure, Etra Road will remain open in both directions with alternating traffic during working hours, from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. The Township views this as another very important means of keeping residents informed about what is happening in East Windsor.   1. Retro Fitness Opens in Windsor Center, located at the southwest corner of Route 130 and Princeton Hightstown Road. Retro Fitness, occupying 12,500 square feet, offers a full array of state-of-the-art exercise equipment, along with health and wellness programs, smoothie bar, pro shop and a separate movie theater with exercise equipment. Retro Fitness joins other national brands Bottom Dollar, which opened in October, and Ross Dress for Less, slated for a 2014 opening, in the revitalized Windsor Center. Founded in 2004, Retro Fitness has evolved from a regional Northeast gym into a national fitness system with more than 120 centers open or in development in 10 states.   2. Township Is Accepting Applications from Residents for Participation in East Windsor Community Garden. The new Community Garden, with initial planting to take place in April 2014, will be located on the Disbrow Hill Road open space property, adjacent to the Disbrow Hill playing fields and across from Etra Lake Park. The Community Garden will provide residents with the opportunity to rent a plot of land to plant their own fruits and vegetables. In addition to the individual plots, a philanthropic garden will be maintained by the East Windsor Green Team and other volunteers, for the purpose of sharing the garden’s produce with local needy families. To obtain an application or further information, contact the Clerk’s Office at 443-4000, ext. 240.

  3. Agility Physical Therapy & Wellness Opens at the corner of Maple Stream Road and Route 130 South. Agility Physical Therapy & Wellness, owned by physical therapist Ambika Patel, is a 3,500 square foot facility, offering a variety of physical therapy and wellness programs and rehabilitation and treatment plans. Agility includes a warm water pool for aquatic therapy, several treatment areas and a separate space for exercise classes. For further information, visitwww.agilityptnj.com.

  4. East Windsor Township Awarded Grants of $8,765.14 for Purchase of Police Body Armor. East Windsor received $5,523.26 under the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice 2013 State Body Armor Replacement Fund Program, and $2,749.39 under the United State Department of Justice 2013 Bulletproof Vest Partnership. These funds are used to supplement Township expenditures for the periodic replacement of body armor issued to and used by members of the Township police department.

  5. Aimes Furniture Opens on Route 33 West (602 Mercer Street)which is north of Airport Road. Aimes Furniture, a family business owned by Carlos Lugo, is a catalog sales and furniture delivery company occupying a 1,100 square foot store. Aimes, which sells all types of furniture including living room, dining room, home office, bedroom and home entertainment sets, carries furniture brands including Acme, Coaster, Cramco, Just in Time, Mainline and Poundex. Current hours of operation are Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm.

  1. ALERT -- WARD STREET CLOSURE: Ward Street, at the Intersection of Etra Road, Remains Closed Due to Weather-Related Delays, through Friday, December 20. The closure is required by the NJ Turnpike Widening Program to realign Etra Road to the newly constructed bridge at Ward Street and Etra Road. Access to Ward Street, including the Township Recycling Facility, is only available by using Route 33 to Davison Road to Ward Street. During the closure, Etra Road will remain open in both directions.

  2. East Windsor Township Reorganization Meeting Is Scheduled for Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 11 am at the East Windsor Township Senior Center, located at 40 Lanning Boulevard. The largely ceremonial meeting will include the administration of the oaths of office to re-elected Council Members Hector Duke, Alan Rosenberg and Perry Shapiro. The Township Council will be making appointments to Township Boards and Committees, and various recognitions will take place. Mayor Janice Mironov and Council members warmly welcome the public to join them at the January 1 reorganization meeting. A reception and refreshments will follow.

  3. Starplex Cinemas Has Acquired East Windsor Multiplex in Town Center Plaza, located on Route 130 North. Starplex Cinemas features lower ticket pricing and $1 hot dogs, and plans to enhance the multiplex with 100% digital projection and new spacious seating. Birthday party packages and event rentals also are available. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Starplex Cinemas currently operates 40 theaters and 313 screens in 11 states, including East Brunswick and Ridgefield Park in New Jersey.   4. East Windsor Township Participated in Womanspace"Communities of Light" at the Municipal Building on December 9. The purpose of "Communities of Light" is to raise funds and public awareness of domestic violence and services available to victims. Mayor Janice S. Mironov, Council Members, Mercer County Freeholders, Domestic Violence Victim Response Team members and police officers joined with residents to light candles around the perimeter of the Municipal Building. Participants were able to purchase luminary kits at Fulton Bank. Communities of Light, benefiting victims of domestic violence, is sponsored by Womanspace, the lead non-profit organization in Mercer County that provides crisis intervention and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The mission of Womanspace is to provide a comprehensive array of services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life to women and their families.

East Windsor Township 2014 New Year’s Food Drive Will Kick Off Wednesday January 1 at the East Windsor Township Reorganization Meeting, and continue through January 31, 2014.Mayor Janice Mironov and Council Members are encouraging residents and businesses who attend the reorganization meeting on January 1 at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center to bring donated non-perishable food items.Throughout January, donations can be dropped off at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard), East Windsor Police Building (80 One Mile Road), or East Windsor Rescue Squad, District II (73 Twin Rivers Drive). The food drive will benefit the Green House Food Pantry at St. Anthony’s Church and the Food Pantry at RISE, area-based organizations that provide assistance to local individuals and families.

  3. No Township Recycling or Bulk Collection Will Occur on Township Holiday Wednesday, January 1:
