East Windsor Township Mayor Janice Mironov Named to Governor-Elect Sherrill Transition Local Government Advisory Group; Mercer County Executive Dan Benson Also Named

East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov, have been selected by Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill to a bipartisan group made up of elected officials from across New Jersey tasked with advising the Gubernatorial Transition, also named is Mercer County Executive Dan Benson. Mayor Mironov, long serving mayor of East Windsor, has previously served as President of the NJ Conference of Mayors and President of the NJ League of Municipalities, and is an active statewide voice for local governments through both organizations, including as chair or member of several policy committees, including affordable housing, energy tax receipts, healthcare, and state plan and development.
Mayor Mironov and County Executive Benson are part of 35 members who will serve on up of elected local and county officials from across New Jersey who will “lend their expertise and perspective to the Transition Action Teams to ensure that local communities across the state have a voice in the upcoming Administration,” according to an announcement last week by Governor-Elect Mikie Sherrill.
Mayor Mironov expressed her, “excitement to be selected and have the opportunity to be directly engaged in important discussions on the path forward for the new Administration and our State. We at the municipal level are essential stakeholders in major state policy and process decisions, and our local governments, residents and businesses are directly impacted in our actions and costs by statewide policies and investments.”
Mironov added, “I look forward to engaging with other talented elected officials and experienced policy folks on the transition team in identified key areas, such as expanding housing options and affordability, heathcare and health insurance reform, transportation infrastructure investments, economic opportunities, lowering costs and improving reliability for energy, delivering strong education and addressing childrens’ mental health, and improving transparency and effectiveness of statewide government operations. We look forward to an on-going partnership and collaborative relationship with the new Governor and her Administration in these many areas of importance working to address the many challenges facing New Jersey.”
According to the announcement, “I know that the best ideas come from working closely with local communities on the ground, and that’s why this advisory group is so important,” said Governor-elect Sherrill. “In Congress, I worked hand-in-hand with our local officials to deliver funding and federal resources for everything from flood mitigation to combatting auto thefts to building housing that working families can afford. I intend to have the same collaborative, mission-focused relationship in my administration – and that starts with the transition as we put our agenda together to be ready to deliver on Day One.”
The Local Government Advisory Group will facilitate discussions with the transition team and other key stakeholders, with the Advisory Group also seeking input from the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, League of Municipalities, Association of Counties, and Urban Mayors Association.
