East Windsor Township and Stony Brook - Millstone Watershed Association Participated in Stream Cleanup at Etra Lake Park on 2017 Earth Day

East Windsor Township and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association co-sponsored, in cooperation with the Americorps Watershed Ambassador Program, a stream cleanup on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Etra Lake Park.  Many residents, young and adult, joined in the stream clean-up collecting many pounds of trash and recyclables.

Mayor Mironov had “encouraged residents to participate in this worthwhile community cleanup effort at Etra Lake Park, as a terrific way to celebrate Earth Day and preserve our natural resources.  The purpose of this cleanup was to remove litter from our local watershed streams, helping to keep our water sources clean, and provide for a cleaner and more environmentally healthy stream.”

The Watershed Association provided T-shirts and refreshments.  The Watershed Association works with residents, municipal, county, and state leaders, and local groups on a wide variety of initiatives and actions to plan smart, grow community and preserve and protect our natural resources.

At the April 22 Earth Day Stream Cleanup, 34 volunteers participated and 218 pounds of trash were collected at Etra Lake Park.
