East Windsor Municipal Alliance For The Prevention Of Substance Abuse Receives Outstanding Achievement Award From Mercer County

Mayor Janice S. Mironov announced that the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse (EWMAPSA) was recognized with an Outstanding Achievement Award from Mercer County for this past year’s efforts and outreach by EWMAPSA in the support of programs and activities providing prevention education especially for young people regarding use of alcohol and drugs. The award was accepted by EWMAPSA members -- Deputy Mayor/Alliance Coordinator Peter Yeager, Council Member John Zoller, Al Grupper and Mayor Janice Mironov.
The mission of the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse is to serve as the official Township coordinating body for planning awareness and prevention education for drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse. The East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse is dedicated to increasing the level of community awareness and prevention of alcohol, drug and tobacco abuse and misuse, through the encouragement and development of safe, healthy and responsible lifestyles for residents of the Township.
Mayor Janice Mironov stated, “the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse is the key local organizing group in bringing together community stakeholders to address this critical issue. Our Municipal Alliance works to discourage alcohol, drug and tobacco abuse, and make available information, support and outreach efforts to further these important goals. Working with the local school district, law enforcement, and community organizations, the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse seeks to make a difference in the lives of people in our community, as sadly it the abuse of drugs and alcohol seems to surface more and more in all of our communities.”
Deputy Mayor/EWMAPSA Coordinator Peter Yeager stated, “We appreciate the great involvement of all of our Alliance members and groups to work together in identifying ideas and programs whereby we can try to enhance awareness and increase support within our community to address the serious issues of drug and alcohol abuse. We are grateful for the resource support and partnerships provided by the State and Mercer County to help underwrite some of our pro-active local programs and activities.”
The East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse provides resource support to several locally-based programs including: Better Beginnings ‘Super BBs’, which provides supervised activities and discussions for high risk children; Campfire NJ Peer Proof-Campfire, a school-based substance abuse awareness program empowering children with life tools to resist the threats of marijuana; RISE ‘Hightstown-East Windsor Learning Partners’ (H.E.L.P.), an after-school academic mentoring program; D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), provided through the Police Department for 5th graders; East Windsor Regional School District Hightstown High School After Prom Event, and Next Level Youth, a sports and tutoring program.
