Public Works Temporary Trash

April 30, 2020

TOWNSHIP GARBAGE COLLECTION AND RELATED SERVICES UPDATES

East Windsor Township understands the continuing challenges we are all experiencing. Previously, we implemented schedule changes for the period April 13 through May 9, together with changes in employee work days and work hours, which would allow for the essential collection and disposal of household garbage during this declared Emergency. An evaluation of these temporary changes has been performed in light of the ongoing health concerns. Our priorities remain to minimize risk to the health and safety of our residents, employees and first responders, while continuing to be available to you and to continue essential Township services.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Effective Monday, May 11 through May 30, 2020, temporary changes to Township Garbage Collection and Related Services will continue with some services restored per below.

1. REGULAR HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE will continue to be collected curbside only ONCE per week.

  • Garbage collection for Area 1 residents (CLICK HERE for Street Index), normally on Monday and Thursday, will be collected on MONDAY only.
  • Garbage collection for Area 2 residents (CLICK HERE for Street Index), normally on Tuesday and Friday, will be collected on FRIDAY only.
  • No Township Curbside Garbage Collection will occur on Monday, May 25 due to the Memorial Day holiday.  Garbage collection for Area 1 residents, normally on Monday, May 25, will be collected on Tuesday, May 26.
  • Please continue to place garbage at the curb BY 7:00 A.M. Collection times may be later than usual as crews will be working longer shifts to accommodate the collection of larger garbage volumes.

2. RECYCLING CURBSIDE COLLECTION will remain UNCHANGED on the current regular schedule of alternating Wednesdays. For the Recycling schedule (CLICK HERE). Please place recycling and regular household garbage at curbside separately, to ensure proper collection.

REMINDER: PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY on Ward Street remains CLOSED temporarily to the public, and the drop-off of any type of recycling (electronics, computers, monitors, televisions, car batteries and tires) is temporarily suspended. These items cannot be included in regular garbage and should be held until the drop-off facility reopens.

3. BULK TRASH COLLECTION, normally collected once a month on designated Wednesdays, temporarily suspended, will be restored, effective the week of May 11 for Wednesday, May 13.

4. WHITE GOODS, including appliances and metal waste, normally collected throughout the entire Township monthly on the third Wednesday, temporarily suspended, will be restored, effective the week of May 11 for Wednesday, May 13.

5. LEAF COLLECTION was completed on Friday, April 3 in accordance with the regular Township schedule. Leaves may continue to be bagged for collection on your household garbage day. Collection of unbagged leaves at the curb will begin again in the fall per the existing Township schedule.

6. WOOD CHIPPING SERVICES, normally available on your bulk trash collection days will NOT be available during this period.

East Windsor Township officials continue to work closely with state and federal officials, and to monitor and respond to the current situation. Thank you for your kind understanding and support, and being part of our East Windsor community as we all work together to move through these challenging times.
