CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE

Mercer County has reported, as of April 13, 2020, there have been a total of 1,646 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases to date, and 53 deaths in Mercer County. All active cases are either at home self-isolating or admitted to the hospital.  The State of New Jersey today reported 2,734 additional Confirmed COVID-19 Cases for a current total of 64,584 cases, and 93 additional deaths for a total of 2,443 COVID-19 related deaths statewide.  For all further information and data related to COVID-19 cases, go to the New Jersey official COVID-19 dashboard (CLICK HERE).  

Please remember to practice social distancing, follow the advice and directives of health care professionals and government officials, and use good sense, so we can all get through this difficult period together.

IMPORTANT REQUEST:    Residents are reminded to properly dispose of used face masks, gloves and other Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) into an appropriate waste container.  Improper disposal is inconsiderate and can expose others to risk.

OTHER COUNTY REMINDERS AND UPDATES 

  1. Mercer County Drive-Up Testing Site for COVID-19, developed in collaboration with health care partners, remains open at Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrence.  Testing is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and only for symptomatic Mercer County residents age 18 or older who have a prescription from their primary health care provider (PCP).  If you are symptomatic for COVID-19 and want to be referred for testing, contact your primary care physician.  Your doctor must fax your prescription to (609) 630-4031, to schedule an appointment.  Those who show up and who do not have an appointment will not be able to be tested.  If you have questions about the testing process, call (609) 337-4081 Monday through Friday between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. 
  2. Central Jersey Urgent Care is operating a Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Site, available without a prescription to residents of Mercer County, located in the rear parking lot at the Robbinsville Municipal Building at 2298 Route 33. You do not need a prescription to get tested, but you must be symptomatic, or have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive patient, and must register online at www.clockwisemd.com/hospitals/2059/visits/new. This drive-thru testing site will be open from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Wednesday April 15 and Friday, April 17.

Testing is limited to one person per-household. The cost for self-pay individuals without insurance will be $99 paid via credit card (no cash will be accepted) at the time of service at the site. Those with insurance also will be required to provide a valid credit card, but only after insurance is applied will any remaining patient responsibility be charged to the card. Contact your healthcare insurer for coverage verification, and be prepared to upload your photo ID and insurance card (if available) during registration. Notification of both positive and negative results will be made by phone in 2-3 days.


STATE OF NEW JERSEY UPDATES

Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 125 (CLICK HERE) on April 11, 2020 to implement additional mitigation requirements to Restaurants, and for NJ TRANSIT and Private Carriers, to limit the spread of COVID-19.  The Executive Order requirements include:

1.  All restaurants, cafeterias, dining establishments, and food courts, with or without a liquor license, all bars, and all other holders of a liquor license with retail consumption privileges that are continuing to offer food delivery and/or take- out services pursuant to Executive Order No. 107 (“food business”) adopt policies, including among other requirements:

  • Limit occupancy at 10% of the stated maximum capacity, wherever feasible;
  • Ensure six feet of distance between workers and customers, except at the moment of payment and/or exchange of goods;
  • Arrange for contactless pay and pickup/delivery options wherever feasible. Such policies shall, wherever possible, consider populations that do not have access to internet service;
  • Require frequent sanitization of high-touch areas like credit card machines, keypads, and counters to which the public and workers have access;
  • Place conspicuous signage at entrances and throughout the food business, if applicable, alerting staff and customers to the required six feet of physical distance; and
  • Require workers to wear cloth face coverings and gloves while on the premises, except where doing so would inhibit that worker’s health, and require workers to wear gloves when in contact with customers or goods. 

2.  NJ TRANSIT, Private Carriers, Unaffiliated Private Carriers, and Paratransit Private Carriers must adopt policies, including among other requirements:

  • Workers may limit occupancy at 50% of the stated maximum capacity, on all trains, buses and light rail lines, and on all Access Link and other vehicles in accordance with any guidelines instituted by NJ TRANSIT, or in consultation with NJ TRANSIT operational divisions;
  • Arrange for contactless pay options across all modes of transportation wherever feasible. Such policies shall, wherever possible, consider populations that do not have access to internet service;
  • Arrange for back door entry on buses wherever feasible, and take seats out of service near the bus operator to allow for proper social distancing from the bus operator wherever feasible;
  • Require frequent sanitization of high-touch areas in stations, like restrooms, waiting areas, credit card machines, and keypads;
  • Place conspicuous signage at stations and throughout train cars, buses and light rail vehicles, if applicable, alerting workers and customers to the required six feet of physical distance; and
  • Require workers and customers to wear cloth face coverings while on trains, buses and light rail vehicles except where doing so would inhibit that individual’s health or where the individual is under two years of age, and require workers to wear gloves when in contact with customers.
