TOWNSHIP GARBAGE COLLECTION AND RELATED SERVICES CHANGES

East Windsor Township understands we are all experiencing a period of time unlike any in most of our lives and unprecedented in our communities. The challenges for all of us are enormous, and we must address them together. Our priorities remain to minimize risk to the health and safety of our residents, employees and first responders, while continuing to be available to you and to continue essential Township services. Toward these key goals, it has become necessary to implement several temporary changes to the schedule for the collection of household garbage, bulk trash, and related services. The schedule changes, together with changes in employee work days and work hours, will allow for the essential collection and disposal of household garbage during this declared Emergency.

These changes will become effective Monday, April 13 and continue for four weeks through May 9, 2020. At that time, we will re-evaluate the situation. Thank you for your kind understanding and support, and being part of our East Windsor community.

  1. REGULAR HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE will be collected curbside only ONCE per week.
    • Garbage collection for Area 1 residents (CLICK HERE for Street Index), normally on Monday and Thursday, will be collected on MONDAY only.
    • Garbage collection for Area 2 residents (CLICK HERE for Street Index), normally on Tuesday and Friday, will be collected on FRIDAY only.
    • Please continue to place garbage at the curb BY 7:00 A.M. Collection times may be later than usual as crews will be working longer shifts to accommodate the collection of larger garbage volumes.
  2. RECYCLING CURBSIDE COLLECTION will remain UNCHANGED on the current schedule of alternating Wednesdays. For the Recycling schedule CLICK HERE. Please place recycling and regular household garbage at curbside separately, to ensure proper collection.

REMINDER: PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY on Ward Street remains CLOSED temporarily to the public, and the drop-off of any type of recycling (electronics, computers, monitors, televisions, car batteries and tires) is temporarily suspended. These items cannot be included in regular garbage and should be held until the drop-off facility reopens.

  3. BULK TRASH, normally collected once a month on designated Wednesdays, will NOT be collected during this period. These items cannot be included in regular garbage and should be held until bulk trash collections resume.
  4. WHITE GOODS, including appliances and metal waste, normally collected throughout the entire Township monthly on the third Wednesday, will NOT be collected during this period. These items cannot be included in regular garbage and should be held until white goods collections resume.
  5. LEAF COLLECTION will be completed on Friday, April 3 in accordance with the regular Township schedule. Leaves may continue to be bagged for collection on your household garbage day. Collection of unbagged leaves at the curb will begin again in the fall per the existing Township schedule.
  6. WOOD CHIPPING SERVICES, normally available on your bulk trash collection days will NOT be available during this period.
