  2. East Windsor Township Lights Up the Municipal Building in Purple to Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution Guaranteeing Women the Right to Vote. Mayor and Council adopted a Resolution honoring the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment and noting that, "the 19th Amendment represents a historical milestone changing the role of women in the civic life of our Nation," and further that "the introduction, passage and ultimate ratification of the 19th Amendment was decades of work and struggle by advocates for the rights of women across the United States." According to the Resolution, it is noteworthy that February 2020 also marks the 100th Anniversary of New Jersey becoming the 29th state to ratify the 19th Amendment, and that New Jersey has a long pro-active role in the suffrage movement with many New Jersey women playing a key role in pursuing the rights of women to vote. To honor this important anniversary of the historic adoption of the 19th Amendment, the East Windsor Municipal Building is lit up in purple, one of the colors associated with the Women's Suffrage movement.

  3. East Windsor Township Seeking Residents and Local Organizations to Serve on the 2020 Census Complete Count Committee established by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council to encourage all residents to participate in events and initiatives that will raise the awareness of the 2020 Census and increase participation to ensure an accurate count of all persons within the community. The U.S. Census Bureau is required by the United States Constitution to conduct a count of the population every ten years. Census data, which is confidential and protected by law, helps determine how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives and is necessary for an accurate and fair redistricting of state legislative seats and local voting districts. Federal and state funding is allocated to communities, and decisions are made on matters of national and local importance based, in part, on census data. Interested Township residents and business owners should contact the Mayor’s Office.
  4. East Windsor Encourages Community Groups to Participate in 2020 Township Adopt-A-Spot Program. Under this program, participating groups "adopt" a public property and keep it clean during the year. A placard is erected on the site indicating that it has been "adopted by" with the name of the group. The groups are expected to perform clean-up three times per month from April 1 through November 30. Adopt-A-Spot is a great program in not only ensuring public areas of our community are well-maintained, but also has been a wonderful educational tool for teaching young people social responsibility and community pride. To participate, interested groups should send a letter to East Windsor Clean Communities Committee, ATTN: Mayor Janice S. Mironov, 16 Lanning Boulevard, East Windsor, NJ 08520.
