- Special Notice from Environmental Commission: Mosquito Update. The East Windsor Township Environmental Commission Reminds Township Residents that Mosquito Season in New Jersey Continues Through October. Mosquito borne diseases can be passed to humans by the bite of infected mosquitos. Mosquito population can vary depending on weather conditions, temperature, rainfall and the presence of standing water where mosquitos lay their eggs. The best defense against mosquitos is to remove their habitats. Here are some tips:
Eliminate standing water in rain gutters, old tire, buckets, plastic covers or any other container that holds water. | Empty and change the water in bird baths, fountains, wading pools, rain barrels and potted plant trays at least once a week. | Keep swimming pool water treated and circulating. | More information on mosquito control and EPA-registered mosquito repellants can be obtained from the New Jersey Department of Health website: (CLICK HERE)
