  1. East Windsor Township 2025 Municipal Budget Adopted by Mayor and Council Members at the May 6 Meeting. The $25,349,000 municipal budget for 2025, maintaining all service levels and staffing, represents a fiscally conservative and responsible budget document which will continue to deliver a high-quality level of services to residents and respond to the needs of the community. The tax rate remains essentially flat with under half a cent tax rate change, and a history of no tax rate increases for 12 of the past 14 years. The municipal portion constitutes only 13 percent of the total local property tax bill, with the remainder for the school district and county. East Windsor works hard to keep spending levels tight and continually seeks out additional efficiencies, cooperative purchasing avenues and service sharing opportunities, has maintained a very low debt level, has effectively reached out to obtain large amounts of grants and revenues, and undertakes pro-active efforts to carefully plan and to closely monitor expenditures and revenues throughout the year. The Township also has been highly pro-active and successful in expanding and attracting new businesses, resulting in a $48 million increase in the tax base supporting local spending.
  2. East Windsor Township Council Appoints Joseph Miczak as New Council Member. A 10 year resident of East Windsor, new Council Member Miczak is the Plant Manager at Greif in Millstone Township, and a licensed real estate salesperson.

  3. Arbor Day Foundation Names East Windsor Tree City USA Community for 2024 for the Township's Commitment to Community Forestry. East Windsor Township, for the 25th year, has earned this national designation meeting the four standards set by the Arbor Day Foundation: having a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, a comprehensive forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance. The program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
  4. East Windsor Township is seeking nominations for the 2024 Township Business Awards Program. The purpose of the program is to recognize local businesses that make special efforts to improve or contribute to the community. Mayor Janice S. Mironov explained that the three categories are: (1) Business Beautification - creating an attractive appearance, for example, through landscaping, flowers, and other enhancements to their structures and site; or (2) Community Service – providing for community contributions and service; or (3) Community Enhancement - providing any community value added aspect related to their business, for example, extraordinary job creation or an unusual or special product or opportunity. Green and sustainable practices, for example, green products, energy conservation, reduction of waste and energy consumption are encouraged and will be given more weight. Mayor Mironov stated, “this program was created to give well deserved recognition to businesses which have made special efforts to enhance our community. It also highlights the importance which our community places on local business owners and operators.” Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Building and posted online at www.east-windsor.nj.us.
