  1. REMINDER: Township Offices Will Be CLOSED and No Township Curbside Garbage Collection Will Occur on Monday, October 9 Due to the Columbus Day Holiday. Residents of Area #1, who would normally have garbage collection on Monday, October 9, are to put their garbage out on the next regularly scheduled collection date which is Thursday, October 12.   2. East Windsor Offers Free Flu Clinics on Thursday, October 12 from 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and Thursday, October 26, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Township Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), for East Windsor and Hightstown residents 60 years and older. The vaccinations are by appointment only, by calling the Township Health Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 222.
  3. East Windsor Roadway Improvements to Remaining Brooktree Neighborhood Streets -- Edward Drive, Lynnfield Drive, Poplar Run and a Portion of Maple Stream Road -- Are in Progress. The project contract, awarded to low bidder Earle Asphalt Co., began with concrete work replacing existing deteriorated curbs, associated aprons and installation of handicapped ramps, and will be followed by milling and resurfacing. The roadway improvements are anticipated to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
  4. East Windsor Recreation Hosts Halloween “Trick-or-Treat” Event on Saturday, October 21, from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. at Etra Lake Park. The free community event, for children 12 and under, will include Halloween themed arts and crafts, one man Halloween Magic and comedy show, and Trick-or-Treat trail. Interested participants MUST be accompanied by an adult and will need to register through Community Pass (CLICK HERE). In the event of inclement weather, call the East Windsor Information Hotline at (609) 443-4000, ext. 400 after 12 P.M. on the day of the event for updates.
  5. East Windsor New Police Lieutenant Philip Melhorn and New Sergeant Kenny Azambuja Are Promoted to Fill Open Positions Created by Promotions and Retirements. Lieutenant Philip Melhorn, hired in July 2006, has served in Uniform Services as a Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician and Officer-In-Charge and in January of 2017, was assigned as Detective in Investigative Services. In February 2019, he was promoted to Sergeant, serving as Platoon Supervisor, and then in November 2022, he was assigned to Investigative Services as the Investigative Services Supervisor. Lieutenant Melhorn also has served as Public Information Officer, Municipal Counter Terrorism Coordinator, Child Abduction Response Team Liaison and a member of the Internal Affairs Unit. Lieutenant Melhorn received a Bachelor of Science degree from The College of New Jersey and Master of Science degree from the University of Nevada. Lieutenant Melhorn will be the interim Commander of Administrative Services. Sergeant Kenny Azambuja, hired in August 2006, has served in Uniform Services as a Field Training Officer and Officer in Charge. In November 2022, he was assigned as a Detective in Investigative Services and has served as a Firearms Instructor and Precision Rifle Operator. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Administrative Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sergeant Azambuja will be assigned as a Platoon Supervisor in Uniform Services.

  6. 3RD QUARTER 2023/2024 TAX BILLS AVAILABLE: Third Quarter tax bills were mailed and should have been received. Taxpayers also can view their 3rd Quarter 2023/2024 tax bills on the Township website (CLICK HERE) and can pay through the Township on-line system. Tax payments also are accepted in person at the Municipal Building, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 P.M. The third quarter payment grace period has been extended through October 24. Any payment received after October 24 will accrue interest back to August 1, 2023. Contact the Township Tax Office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 230 with any questions.
  7. Last Day to Register to Vote in the November 7 General Election Is Tuesday, October 17. Registration forms can be obtained online at www.njelections.org. or at the municipal clerk's office in town hall.
  8. Vote By Mail Applications for the November 7, 2023 Election Are Available on-line at the New Jersey Division of Elections website (CLICK HERE) or from the Municipal Clerk’s office. Applications must be mailed or delivered in person and cannot be submitted by facsimile or email. Mailed applications must be received at least seven days prior to the election. Voters also can apply in person at the County Clerk's office in Trenton until 3 P.M. on November 6. Completed Vote by Mail Ballots must be postmarked or returned to Dropbox by 8 P.M. on November 7. Local Dropbox for return of Vote by Mail Ballots is located at the Court/Police Building (80 One Mile Road). Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 238.
  9. Mercer County Holds Paper Shredding Day tomorrow Saturday, October 7 from 9 AM to 12 PM, rain or shine, at Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (across from the county administration building at 641 South Broad Street). Residents may bring up to eight boxes or bags of paper; no household chemicals and no commercial businesses are permitted. Proof of residency such as a driver's license is required.
