  6. SPECIAL NOTICE from Environmental Commission: Residents Are Reminded that the Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) Is Hatching Now in Central Jersey. All New Jersey Counties are under quarantine to prevent the transportation of any natural wood without a permit for fear of spreading this pest. The Spotted Lanternfly nymph (early-stage life) is approximately 1/4 inch in length with a bright red body and black and white markings. Sticky bands applied to the base of infested trees can be effective in destroying nymphs, as they are poor climbers and will repeatedly fall to the ground and attempt to climb back up their host tree. Spotted lanternfly nymphs are more susceptible to controls such as insecticidal soaps, horticultural oils and neem oils.
