  1. Reminder: Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Tree Seedlings on Saturday, May 6 (rain date Saturday, May 13), beginning at 10 A.M. and continuing to 12 noon or until supplies run out at the East Windsor Police Athletic League complex (30 Airport Road). AcerE-Rubrum Red Maples, a deciduous tree noted for attractive red foliage which thrives in a wide range of soils, will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. Information about this variety can be found at www.arborday.org.
  2. Reminder: East Windsor Township Offers COVID-19 Vaccination and Boosters Including Bivalent Booster Clinics on Saturday, May 6 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church (79 One Mile Road Ext) and Thursday, May 11 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Melvin H. Kreps Middle School (5 Kent Lane). Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available, as well as bivalent booster doses for those who are eligible. Vaccinations and Pfizer boosters will be available for children ages 5 and older. Appointments Are Required.   3. East Windsor Child Passenger Car Safety Seat Inspection Initiative, Funded by $7,500 Grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, Will Kick Off on Wednesday, May 10, from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Police/Municipal Court Building (80 One Mile Road) and run through September. The Child Passenger Car Safety Seat Inspection Program is designed to ensure motorists are properly securing their children in child seats as required by State law. Interested residents can have their child seats inspected for proper fit and installation in their vehicles and will receive educational materials regarding current child restraint laws. Additional inspection sessions will take place as follows: at Police/Court Building on Thursday, June 8, Monday, July 10 and Friday, September 22 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. and at the Township National Night Out event at the East Windsor PAL Complex (30 Airport Road) on Tuesday, August 1 from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M.
  4. "Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer" for 2022/2023 Awarded to Sydelle Norris and Marc Platizky by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members. Sydelle Norris, a 56-year East Windsor resident who has been volunteering for East Windsor Township for over 25 years, is a member and chair for past five years of the Township Commission on Aging, which provides support and guidance for Mayor and Council and the Senior Center. For over five years, Sydelle, a wonderfully generous and kind individual, has volunteered as a Medicare Counselor at the Senior Center and in the greater Mercer County area, providing one-on-one Medicare counseling to over 300 people, as well as screening individuals' eligibility for State programs to financially assist residents paying premiums, deductible and copays. Marc Platizky, a dedicated and tireless volunteer, has served in a variety of ways, including as a past President and currently Vice President of the Twin Rivers Board of Directors, member of the East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, recently on the Wheaton Pointe Board of Directors and volunteers for the Joshua Harr Shane Foundation, a local charity offering assistance to the critically ill, to special needs individuals and also to our military. Marc also volunteers at the Senior Center, teaching computer literacy and smart phone use to seniors, and helps out anyone needing assistance. The "Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer," presented annually by East Windsor Township, recognizes a senior citizen who has exhibited outstanding service through volunteerism to the community by way of schools, religious institutions, service organizations or directly to the public. Sylvia Weiss was a former East Windsor Township Council Member, past Council senior citizen advisor and chairperson of the Commission on Aging and was instrumental in the original formation of the senior citizen program. Congratulations to Sydelle Norris and Marc Platizky on their outstanding well-deserved recognition!

  5. Elementary School Student Winners of the Township Earth Day Recycling Poster Contest Were Recognized by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members. The poster contest theme was to promote the 4 R's of the Township Recycling Program: "Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, Rebuy." Winners received Mayoral Certificates of Recognition and gift certificates to Barnes and Noble, donated by corporate sponsor Shiseido America. All of the posters are on display through the month of June in the East Windsor Municipal Building. Congratulations to all the participating students and to all of the winners.

  6.   7. East Windsor Encourages Community Groups to Participate in 2023 Township Adopt-A-Spot Program. Under this program, participating groups "adopt" a public property and keep it clean during the year. A placard is erected on the site indicating that it has been "adopted by" with the name of the group. The groups are expected to perform clean-up three times per month from April 1 through November 30. Adopt-A-Spot is a great program in not only ensuring public areas of our community are well-maintained, but also has been a wonderful educational tool for teaching young people social responsibility and community pride.   8. Last Day to Register to Vote in the June 6 Primary Election is Tuesday, May 16. Registration forms can be obtained at the municipal building or on-line at www.njelections.org. For individuals who want Vote by Mail (VBM) Ballots, the Application can be obtained on-line at www.njelections.org. or at the municipal building. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 30 by mail and Monday, June 5 by 3 P.M. in person. Completed Mail Ballots can be deposited in the Drop Box located at the Municipal Court/Police Building (80 One Mile Road) by Election Day at 8 P.M. VBM's returned by mail must be postmarked by Election Day.
  9. East Windsor Recreation Department Summer Camp Registration Is Open for Township Residents. Recreation day camps will be offered for students entering grades Kindergarten through 6. The Explorer camp is designed for campers entering grades Kindergarten and 1, the Adventure camp is designed for campers entering grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and the 2023 Travel camps are offered for campers entering grades 5 through 9. Camp Care for before and after care of campers is also available for an additional fee. Online registration and payment is available at (CLICK HERE).   10. PUBLIC NOTICE: East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority (EWMUA) Is Conducting Semi-Annual Hydrant Flushing to remove sediment from pipes, monitor water flows and pressures, and provide visual inspection of the hydrants between the hours of 9 A.M. and 4 P.M. Monday through Friday on the following dates:
    • May 1 through May 5: Hickory Acres, Brooktree area, Renaissance Estates, Princeton East, Oak Creek Estates, Riviera, neighborhoods along Dutch Neck Road, One Mile Road and sections of Route 130.
      This schedule is subject to change due to conflicting work that must be done by EWMUA personnel. According to the EWMUA, customers may notice a drop in water pressure or may experience discolored water. At no time will the water quality be compromised, and the water is safe to use.
