  1. REMINDER: Stream Cleanup Co-Sponsored by The Watershed Institute and East Windsor Township on Saturday, April 23, from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Etra Lake Park, Rain or Shine. Pre-registration is required (CLICK HERE). Volunteers should wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and long sleeves and bring work gloves. Trash bags and alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be provided, however participants are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer to best maintain distance between groups and staff.   2. REMINDER: East Windsor Township Offers Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination and First and Second Booster Dose Clinic on Thursday, April 28 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Melvin H. Kreps Middle School (5 Kent Lane). Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available, as well as Pfizer and Moderna Booster doses for those who are eligible. Vaccinations will be available for children ages 5 through 11. Appointments Are Required.   3. Chipotle Mexican Grill Opens in East Windsor Town Center Plaza on Route 130 North. Chipotle has modernized and reconfigured the former Capital One Bank pad site into a 2,746 square foot restaurant, which includes indoor seating, a pick-up, drive-thru and pick-up window, both after Chipotle App mobile ordering and payment. Chipotle Mexican Grill is an American-based casual restaurant chain specializing in tacos and made-to-order Mission burritos. The Chipotle menu includes burritos, burrito bowls, lifestyle bowls, salads, kids meals, tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa, and queso. The first Chipotle Mexican Grill opened in 1993 in Denver, Colorado and has since expanded its chain of restaurants to over 2,600 locations worldwide.   4. Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Tree Seedlings on Saturday, April 30 (rain date Saturday, May 7), beginning at 10 A.M. and continuing to 12 noon or until supplies run out at the East Windsor Police Athletic League fields on Airport Road. Acer Rubrum Red Maples, a deciduous tree noted for attractive red foliage which thrives in a wide range of soils, will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.   5. East Windsor Will Participate in Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, April 30 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., offering residents the opportunity to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reducing possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs. The Township has a drop box in the lobby of the Police/Court building at 80 One Mile Road for the collection of these various medications. This special one-day collaborative event with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is intended to focus community attention on the importance and opportunity for secure and responsible disposal of medications. Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal. The Township maintains a year-round 24/7 accessible permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the police/court building.

  6. Mercer County Holds Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, April 23 from 9 AM to 12 PM, rain or shine, at Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (across from county administration building at 641 South Broad Street). Residents may bring up to eight boxes or bags of paper; no household chemicals and no commercial businesses are permitted. Proof of residency such as a driver's license is required.   7. Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban Takes Effect Wednesday, May 4. The law bans single use plastic bags at grocery stores and retail establishments, as well as single use paper bags at grocery stores 2,500 square feet and larger. The law also prohibits polystyrene foam takeout food containers as well as polystyrene food-service products such as food trays, plates, utensils and cups. The ban aims to reduce litter and encourage purchase and use of reusable carryout bags. As of November 4, 2021, plastic straws became available only upon request.   8. East Windsor Promotes Township Memorial Tree Program During Arbor Day, which is celebrated on the last Friday of April. The Memorial Tree Program offers residents a unique opportunity to provide a living memorial to a deceased relative or friend or in remembrance or commemoration of a special person, group or event, by the planting of a tree in the Township Memorial Tree Grove located on the grounds of the East Windsor municipal building. The tree, including tree planting and accompanying granite marker with the name of the deceased person or event to be remembered, can be ordered through the Public Works Department.   9. East Windsor Recreation Department Summer Camp Registration Is Open for Township Residents. Recreation day camps will be offered for students entering grades Kindergarten through 6. The Explorer camp is designed for campers entering grades Kindergarten and 1, the Adventure camp is designed for campers entering grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and the 2022 Travel camps are offered for campers entering grades 5 through 9. Camp Care for before and after care of campers is also available for an additional fee. Online registration and payment is available at (CLICK HERE).   10. East Windsor Recreation Department Is Accepting Applications for 2022 Summer Camp Positions. The positions include camp supervisors, camp counselors, before and after care camp staff, and (non-paying) counselors-in-training. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Township Recreation Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 214 or online at (CLICK HERE). Individuals 18 years and older will be subject to a background check. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
  11. East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority (EWMUA) Is Conducting Semi-Annual Hydrant Flushing to remove sediment from pipes, monitor water flows and pressures, and provide visual inspection of the hydrants during the overnight hours between 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. on the following dates: This schedule is subject to change due to conflicting work that must be done by EWMUA personnel. According to the EWMUA, customers may notice a drop in water pressure or may experience discolored water. At no time will the water quality be compromised, and the water is safe to use.     • May 8 through May 13: Hickory Acres, Brooktree area, Renaissance Estates, Princeton East, Oak Creek Estates, Riviera, neighborhoods along Dutch Neck Road, One Mile Road and sections of Route 130.
