  1. REMINDER: East Windsor Township Is Holding Document Shredding and Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, April 9 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., Rain or Shine, at the East Windsor Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard). This Township event, sponsored by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members, will offer Free document shredding to East Windsor residents (no commercial drop-offs are permitted), with a limit of ten boxes per household, and until the shredding truck is full. Electronic recycling is limited to televisions, computers and accessories, monitors, fax machines, VCR's, cable boxes and telephones. Residents must remain in their vehicles at all times.   2. European Wax Center Opens in East Windsor Village Shopping Center ("Target Center") on Princeton-Hightstown Road. European Wax Center, an America-based salon that specializes in full waxing services performed by licensed and professionally trained wax experts and hair removal products, offers private waxing suites and a full line of body, skincare and brow products. Their services, which are gender neutral, include hair removal for faces, legs, backs, arms, shoulders, hands and more. European Wax Center, which opened their first center in 2004, has grown to over 800 locations nationwide.   3. East Windsor Township Kicks Off Opening of 2022 Community Garden, located adjacent to the Disbrow Hill Playing Fields and across from Etra Lake Park. The event, attended by Mayor Janice S. Mironov, Council Members David Russell, Alan Rosenberg and John Zoller along with Health Advisory Board Chairperson Nancy Toledo and community garden participants, represented the start of the community garden planting. The community garden provides residents with the opportunity to rent a plot of land to plant their own fruits and vegetables and is part of the Township's ongoing sustainable community efforts.

  4. REMINDER: Annual East Windsor Egg Hunt Is Scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at 9 A.M., at Etra Lake Park (rain date Sunday, April 10 at 1:30 P.M.). The egg hunt is for children in pre-school through Grade 5. This annual event features lots of candy, prizes, and fun! There is no fee or registration, but each child should bring a basket or bag. To avoid a last minute traffic jam at the park entrance, plan to arrive early. If inclement weather, call (609) 443-4000, ext. 400 for information.
  5. East Windsor Sponsors Recycling Poster Contest for Local Elementary School Students for Earth Day. The theme of the poster is to promote any or all of the "4 R's" of the Township Recycling Program Logo, which are: RECYCLE all items that can be recycled; REUSE other items rather than throw them out in the trash; REDUCE materials into homes that then have to be disposed of, and REBUY buy goods that use recycled materials. Posters should be left by Monday, April 18, at the student's School Administrative Office or at the East Windsor Municipal Building Mayor's Office. Participants should be certain to provide on the back of each poster the student's name, address, phone number, grade level and school attended. Contest winners will be notified and awards, including a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble donated by Shiseido, will be made by Mayor Janice S. Mironov at an Earth Day ceremony. Winning posters will be displayed in the municipal building lobby through May.

  6. Stream Cleanup Co-Sponsored by The Watershed Institute and East Windsor Township on Saturday, April 23, from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Etra Lake Park, Rain or Shine. Pre-registration is required (CLICK HERE). Masks are optional. Volunteers should wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and long sleeves and bring work gloves. Trash bags and alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be provided, however participants are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer to best maintain distance between groups and staff.   7. East Windsor Encourages Community Groups to Participate in 2022 Township Adopt-A-Spot Program. Under this program, participating groups "adopt" a public property and keep it clean during the year. A placard is erected on the site indicating that it has been "adopted by" with the name of the group. The groups are expected to perform clean-up three times per month from April 1 through November 30. Adopt-A-Spot is a great program in not only ensuring public areas of our community are well-maintained, but also has been a wonderful educational tool for teaching young people social responsibility and community pride.   8. East Windsor Will Participate in Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, April 30 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., offering residents the opportunity to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reducing possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs. The Township has a drop box in the lobby of the Police/Court building at 80 One Mile Road for the collection of these various medications. This special one-day collaborative event with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is intended to focus community attention on the importance and opportunity for secure and responsible disposal of medications. Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal. The Township maintains a year-round 24/7 accessible permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the police/court building.

  9. East Windsor Distracted Driver "U Drive, U Text, U Pay" Campaign Underwritten by $7,000 Distracted Driving Enforcement Grant Continues through April 30. The $7,000 NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety "U Drive, U Text, U Pay" grant, part of a statewide initiative, is for targeted enforcement of distracted driving behaviors, such as texting, holding a cell phone, grooming, reading, and using other electronic devices while driving. This initiative is geared to promote the responsible operation of motor vehicles for everyone through increased public awareness and education as well as enforcement of existing state distracted driving laws. Motorists should give their full attention to the roadway while driving and do their part to help keep our roadways safer for all drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

  10. Mercer County Holds Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, April 23 from 9 AM to 12 PM, rain or shine, at Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (across from county administration building at 641 South Broad Street). Residents may bring up to eight boxes or bags of paper; no household chemicals and no commercial businesses are permitted. Proof of residency such as a driver's license is required.   11. East Windsor Township Offers Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination and First and Second Booster Dose Clinic on Thursday, April 28 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Melvin H. Kreps Middle School (5 Kent Lane). Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available, as well as Booster doses for those who are eligible. Vaccinations will be available for children ages 5 through 11.   12. East Windsor Recreation Department Is Accepting Applications for 2022 Summer Camp Positions. The positions include camp supervisors, camp counselors, before and after care camp staff, and (non-paying) counselors-in-training. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Township Recreation Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 214 or online at (CLICK HERE). Individuals 18 years and older will be subject to a background check. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
  13. East Windsor Recreation Department Summer Camp Registration Is Open for Township Residents. Recreation day camps will be offered for students entering grades Kindergarten through 6. The Explorer camp is designed for campers entering grades Kindergarten and 1, the Adventure camp is designed for campers entering grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and the 2022 Travel camps are offered for campers entering grades 5 through 9.
