  1. ALERT: Mercer County Is Performing Work for the Township on Airport Road from Old York Road to Keswick Road TODAY, Friday, October 19 during which this Road Area Will Be CLOSED. The work will be milling and paving this portion of Airport Road. Other portions of Airport Road will remain open for local traffic only. Work hours will be 9 A.M. to 3 P.M.
  2. ALERT: Mercer County Is Performing Work for the Township on Millstone Road from Old Trenton Road to the Millstone River Bridge at the Cranbury Township Border, Commencing on or about Monday, October 22, and taking approximately eight business days, weather dependent. During the milling and paving work, the roadway will be CLOSED to through traffic, and detours will be signed. Millstone Road will remain open for local traffic only. Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 A.M.to 3 P.M.
  3. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaims October "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" and Recognizes Womanspace and the Domestic Violence Victim Response Team, joined by Womanspace Executive Director Patricia Hart and Team members. The Mayoral Proclamation reads, "The East Windsor Domestic Violence Victim Response Team and Womanspace have provided a coordinated community response that has served hundreds of local residents during its years of operation, and has improved many lives in our community by advocating the importance of victim safety as well as accountability for abusers. The pro-active commitment by East Windsor Township through its Domestic Violence Victim Response Team and Womanspace visibly demonstrates to our residents and surrounding municipalities that we are united in combating domestic violence and that it is unacceptable to our entire community." Womanspace is the lead non-profit organization in Mercer County that provides crisis intervention and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The mission of Womanspace is to provide a comprehensive array of services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and to improving the quality of life for women and their families.


    Mayor Janice S.   4. REMINDER: East Windsor Offers Free Flu Clinic on Tuesday, October 23, from 9:30 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the Township Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), for all residents 60 years and older. The vaccinations are by appointment only, by calling the Township Health Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 222.
  5. East Windsor Will Participate in Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, October 27 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., offering residents the opportunity to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reducing possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs. The Township has a drop box in the lobby of the police/court building at 80 One Mile Road for the collection of these various medications. This special one-day collaborative event with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is intended to focus community attention on the importance and opportunity for secure and responsible disposal of medications. Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal. The Township maintains a year-round 24/7 accessible permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the police/court building.
  6. Mercer County Holds Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, November 3 from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M., rain or shine, at Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (across from county administration building at 640 South Broad Street). Residents may bring up to eight boxes or bags of paper; no household chemicals and no commercial businesses are permitted. Proof of residency such as a driver's license is required.   7. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Issues Mayoral Proclamation in Recognition of "Knock Out Opiate Abuse Day" to raise awareness to medical professionals, community leaders and citizens of the concerns and drug abuse links of the potential dependency on prescribed pain medicine. The public awareness effort, in partnership with the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Drug-Free New Jersey, and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse (E.W.M.A.P.S.A.), is in response to the opiate abuse epidemic throughout New Jersey.

  8. East Windsor Will Hold Free Rabies Clinics for dog and cat owners on Saturday, November 3 from 1 P.M to 3 P.M. at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 (51 One Mile Road) and on Saturday, November 10 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 (69 Twin Rivers Drive). Owners will be required to show a certificate of previous rabies vaccination to receive a vaccination valid for three years; otherwise vaccinations of only one year duration will be provided.   9. East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Hosts Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27, from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M., Rain or Shine, at the fire station (69 Twin Rivers Drive). The event will include fire truck rides, hay rides, Sparky the Fire Dog, arts and crafts, games, hot dogs and snacks, D.J. and dancing.   10. Nominations Sought for the 2019 Mayors' "Shining Star" Gala Awards to Benefit Better Beginnings Child Development Center. Award categories include Individual, Lifetime Achiever, Organization, Business/Industry, and Youth Group.   11. Deadlines to Apply to Vote By Mail in the Tuesday, November 6 General Election are Tuesday October 30 when submitting your application by mail and Monday, November 5 by 3 P.M. when submitting your application in person. Vote By Mail application forms can be obtained online at www.njelections.org. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 240.
  12. New Jersey Homestead Rebate Application Deadline Is Friday November 30, 2018. The New Jersey Division of Taxation states the 2016 Homestead Benefit Application Packets were mailed or emailed in September. Homeowners must file applications either online or by phone. The online application, available at www.njtaxation.org, and the automated telephone filing system at 1-877-658-2972, are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To be eligible, homeowners: must own and occupy their home as their principle residence on October 1, 2016; have a 2016 gross income not more than $150,000 for disabled homeowners or those 65 or older, as of December 31, 2016, or $75,000 in 2016 gross income for homeowners under 65 as of December 31, 2016 and not disabled; must be permanent legal residents of New Jersey, and the home was subject to local property tax and the 2016 property taxes are paid.
  13. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees. Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.   14. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available. If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building. Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more. Interested individuals should contact the Municipal Clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237 and provide your name and contact information.   15. High School Students Invited to Serve as Student Members of East Windsor Township Boards and Commissions. The boards and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.
