TROPICAL STORM ISAIAS UPDATE

The impact of Tropical Storm Isaias on East Windsor Township has resulted in a widespread sustained power outage and the closure of roadways due to downed power lines and trees. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Township officials have been reaching out pro-actively and continuously to the Governor's office, New Jersey legislators, representatives of Mercer County Office of Emergency Management and JCP&L, seeking information and power restoration action. Early this morning, Mayor Mironov spoke directly with the President of JCP&L seeking more expedited restoration of power to our community and to express the Township's dissatisfaction with the JCP&L performance, poor response and utter lack of accurate agreeable information about the status and timelines to address the outage conditions. The JCP&L President assured the Mayor that, "by the end of today Thursday August 6, a total of 4,300 homes of the currently 5,900 affected East Windsor homes will have power restored." No specific details were offered by JCP&L as to which areas of the Township are expected to be restored today, or the timeline for restoration of the remaining customers. Mayor Mironov and Township officials will continue to pro-actively push for better information and more expedited corrective schedules and action for local residents.

JCP&L UPDATES: According to the JCP&L power outage status website, approximately 3,500 homes thus far have had electrical service restored today. Approximately 2,407 homes remain without power as of 5 P.M. today. JCP&L itself has failed to provide any meaningful updates or information on-line or through its website or through its email and text notices, JCP&L has been sending out unacceptable ETR restoration date and time notices. Current JCP&L power outages can be viewed HERE.
