TROPICAL STORM ISAIAS UPDATE

The impact of Tropical Storm Isaias on East Windsor Township has resulted in a widespread sustained power outage and the closure of roadways due to downed power lines and trees. East Windsor Officials are proactively communicating with JCP&L and Mercer County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), seeking expedited restoration of power to our community and the re-opening of closed roads. We will continue to actively pursue better communications and action by JCP&L and Mercer County OEM. Currently, the following roads are closed:

  • Old York Road (CR539) between Windsor-Perrineville Road and Sharon Road (Possible live wires down)
  • Woods Road between Berwick Circle and Perrineville Road (Possible live wires down)
  • Route 33 between Davison Road and Maxwell Avenue (Transformer/Pole)
  • Route 571 and One Mile Road (Traffic Signal on Flash)

JCP&L advises, without providing any detail, that approximately 5,900 East Windsor customers are currently without power. JCP&L is unable and/or unwilling to provide any information at all, regarding work or restoration schedule, outage issues, or needed corrective work in East Windsor Township. JCP&L states the "restoration process will be a multi-day event", stating they "remain actively working to clear active power lines from fallen trees and replace damaged utility poles before addressing the restoration of residential power lines." East Windsor Officials will continue to actively seek improved communications and actions. Current JCP&L power outages can be viewed HERE.

For customers remaining without power for 24 hours or more, JCP&L is offering free water and ice at the East Windsor Shoprite, 319 Route 130 North, as of 10 A.M. today.

East Windsor has opened a 24/7 location for residents to charge mobile devices: East Windsor Police/Court Building, 80 One Mile Road.

Residents are advised to never approach downed wires. Please call the East Windsor Police Department at (609) 448-5678 ext. 0 to report downed wires.
