  1. REMINDER TO VOTE  ELECTION DAY IS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, and polls are open from 6 A.M. to 8 P.M.  Check your Sample Ballot to confirm polling place.  For questions about voting or polling place, call the Municipal Clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 240.   
  2. REMINDER:   East Windsor Will Hold Free Rabies Clinics for dog and cat owners on Saturday, November 2 from 1 P.M to 3 P.M. at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 at 51 One Mile Road and on Saturday, November 9 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 at 69 Twin Rivers Drive.  Owners will be required to show a certificate of previous rabies vaccination to receive a vaccination of three year duration; otherwise vaccinations of one year duration only will be provided.  For safety, all animals must be properly restrained by leash or carried.  For more information, contact the Animal Control Officer at (609) 448-5678, ext. 229 or (CLICK HERE). 
  3. COMING SOON:   Skechers to Open in Vacant Retail Store in East Windsor Village on Princeton Hightstown Road, previously occupied by Famous Footwear.  Skechers, the third largest athletic footwear brand in the United States, has signed a multi-year lease to open this local 9,700 square feet retail store.  Skechers operates 19 stores in New Jersey and more than 3,300 locations worldwide.  Skechers joins Target, Kohl's, T.J. Maxx and Patel Brothers grocery store in the East Windsor Village shopping center on Route 571.   
  4. NOTE CHANGE OF DATE:   East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Halloween Party Has Been Rescheduled to Saturday, November 2, from 12 Noon to 4 P.M.  The event at the fire station (69 Twin Rivers Drive) will include fire truck rides, hay rides, hot dogs, cookies and snacks, D.J., dancing, fun and games.  Residents interested in joining the Fire Company are encouraged to attend and obtain information.  For further information call (609) 443-5130. 
  5. East Windsor Honors Firefighters of the Year Evan Dorfman and Chief Mario Batista, selected by their respective Companies, for their dedicated volunteer fire company service.  Evan Dorfman of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and Mario Batista of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 were presented with proclamations from Mayor Janice Mironov in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week.  Evan Dorfman joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in May 1997 when he moved into the district, after serving with East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 for six years, and has held several leadership positions in the Fire Company, including Engineer, Trustee, Fire Police Lieutenant and Vice President of Fire Company No. 1.  Evan Dorfman has served on numerous Fire Company No. 1 committees, including the Membership Committee, Special Events Committee, Santa Open House Committee and the Good & Welfare Committee.  On December 11, 2018, Evan was part of a CPR save at the Melvin H. Kreps Middle School during a school performance, springing into action with several others to perform CPR and use an AED to save a man’s life.  In 2018, Evan responded to 299 calls and attended 27 training drills, in addition to attending numerous company work details and meetings, totaling 348.85 man hours over the past year.  Evan Dorfman’s over 25 years of firefighter services demonstrated through diligent efforts responding to calls and participating in company business, and his excellent efforts in all aspects of his service with Fire Company No. 1 has contributed enormously to the success of the fire company and has earned him recognition as Firefighter of the Year.  Chief Mario Batista joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 in May 2004 and has been involved in emergency services, including fire and EMS, for the past 37 years.  Mario Batista has dedicated himself to helping others in times of crisis, assisting in rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, volunteering as the Multi Agency Coordinator for the New Jersey EMS Task Force, and serving during several deployments with the New Jersey EMS Task Force and the New Jersey Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1 during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, the Papal visit in 2015, and Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria relief in the US Virgin Islands in 2017.  His dedication to Fire Company No. 2 resulted in his appointment as Acting Fire Chief in October 2016 and election as Fire Chief in December 2016.  Since 2016, Chief Batista has responded to 1,071 fire calls and has participated and conducted over 180 drills totaling over 420 man hours.  Mario Batista’s tireless efforts in response to calls, participating in drills, undertaking leadership roles, and his excellent efforts in all aspects of his service for Fire Company No. 2 has contributed enormously to the success of the fire company and has earned him recognition as Firefighter of the Year.  Thank you to all of our great fire company volunteers!

  6. ALERT:   Route 130/Hankins Road/Conover Road Realignment Project Work Actively Continues.  The Conover Road intersection at Route 130 is fully CLOSED until project completion.  Drivers should follow posted detours.  The improvement project provides for Route 130, Hankins Road and Conover Road to be realigned to meet at a single point controlled by a traffic signal and allowing for all left-turn movements.  Upon completion, drivers will be able to make signal protected left turns from Route 130 South onto Conover Road and from Conover Road onto Route 130 South, and allow direct access across Route 130 from Conover Road to Hankins Road.  This realignment project includes drainage improvements and the relocation of existing utilities.  The project is partially funded by a $525,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.  A December 1 completion date is anticipated, weather permitting. 
  7. East Windsor Encourages Residents to Support and Participate in Womanspace "Communities of Light" Scheduled for Monday, December 2.  Residents can support the event by purchasing candles and gathering with local elected officials and police on Monday, December 2 at 5 P.M. to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building, followed by refreshments.  Citizens can participate by purchasing luminary kits, containing six candles each, for $10 at any time at the East Windsor Police/Court Building (80 One Mile Road) or during work hours Monday to Friday, from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard), and bringing the luminary kits to the event.  All proceeds will go 100% directly to Womanspace, the primary Mercer County organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals affected by domestic violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life of abuse victims and their families.  For further information, call (609) 448-5678, ext. 231.


    Purchase "Communities of Light" luminary kits, with six candles, at the East Windsor Township Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard) and East Windsor Police/Municipal Court Building (80 One Mile Road) for $10 to raise funds for Womanspace.  East Windsor officials and citizens will assemble on Monday, December 2 at 5 P.M. to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building, as a beacon of hope for the victims of domestic violence and their families. 
  8. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees.  Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.  Residents interested in volunteering can obtain an application form from the municipal clerk or can fill out this form (CLICK HERE) and return by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303, or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   9. High School Students Invited to Serve as Student Members of East Windsor Township Boards and Commissions.  The boards and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.  High school students who wish to be considered should submit a letter indicating their area of interest and reasons or related background, by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303 or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   10. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:  Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available.  If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building.  Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more.  Those interested should contact the Municipal Clerk’s office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237 and leave your name and contact information. 
  11. New Jersey Homestead Rebate Application Deadline is Monday, December 2, 2019.  The New Jersey Division of Taxation states the 2017 Homestead Benefit Application Packets were delivered on or about September 24.  Homeowners must file applications either online or by phone.  The online application, available at www.njtaxation.org, and the automated telephone filing system at 1-877-658-2972, are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  To be eligible, homeowners:  must own and occupy their home as their principle residence on October 1, 2017; have a 2017 gross income not more than $150,000 for disabled homeowners or those 65 or older, as of December 31, 2017, or $75,000 in 2017 gross income for homeowners under 65 as of December 31, 2017 and not disabled; must be permanent legal residents of New Jersey, the home was subject to local property tax and the 2017 property taxes are paid.
  12. Township Recreation Department Offers Trip to “Disney On Ice: Road Trip Adventure" on Monday, December 30 (for 3 P.M. show) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The Bus will depart the Municipal Building parking lot (16 Lanning Blvd.) at 1 P.M.  The $62 cost per person includes motor coach transportation and admission to Club Box 11 which has a lounge and a private restroom.  Attendees under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  For more information, call (609) 443-4000, ext. 225 or (CLICK HERE) to register.
