  1. REMINDER:   Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Tree Seedlings on Saturday, May 4 (rain date Saturday, May 11), beginning at 10 A.M. to 12 noon or until supplies run out.  Northern Red Oak tubelings will be available on a first-come first-serve basis at the East Windsor Police Athletic League fields on Airport Road.  The Northern Red Oak is the New Jersey State Tree.  Information about this variety can be found at www.arborday.org.
  2. Roadway Improvements to Oak Creek Road from Windsor Center Drive to Heathwood Drive, and Heathwood Drive from Oak Creek Road to Dutch Neck Road Began this week with concrete repairs to curbs and handicapped ramps, and thereafter the roadway will be milled and paved.  The project, awarded to low bidder Top Line Construction of Somerville, New Jersey, is funded by a $391,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant and is anticipated to take six weeks to complete, weather dependent.  Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 A.M. to 5 P.M.
  3. Roadway Improvements to Cypress Drive from Meadowbrook Road to One Mile Road South, and Spruce Road Are Scheduled to Begin with Concrete Work on Monday, May 6.  The project, awarded to low bidder Richard T. Barrett Paving Company of Trenton, New Jersey, will include milling and resurfacing, as well as repairs to curbs and handicapped ramps.  Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 A.M. to 5 P.M.
  4. Roadway Improvements to Old Cranbury Road between Route 130 and the Millstone River bridge at the Township border, Rocky Brook Road from Old Cranbury Road to Oak Branch Road, and Holland Lane from Old Cranbury Road to Oak Branch Road Are Scheduled to Begin with Concrete Work on Monday, May 13.  The project, awarded to low bidder Top Line Construction of Somerville, New Jersey, is funded by a $410,100 New Jersey Department of Transportation grant.  Improvements will include milling and resurfacing, as well as repairs to curbs and handicapped ramps, and is anticipated to take eight weeks to complete, weather dependent.  Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 A.M. to 5 P.M.
  5. Mercer County Park Commission Is Holding a Public Meeting on the Development of a New Recreation Park at Dam Site 21, on Thursday, May 9 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at The Conference Center at Mercer County Community College (1200 Old Trenton Road Road, West Windsor).  Dam Site 21 is a 370-acre property along Miry Run which flows into the Delaware River, and is located on Old Trenton Road across from Mercer County Community College.  The site includes a lake, undeveloped uplands, wetlands, woodlands, and open fields.  Additional information is available online (CLICK HERE) or by contacting Sarah Leeper at sleeper@simonecollins.com or (610) 239-7601. 
  6. Last Day to Register to Vote in the June 4 Primary Election is Tuesday, May 14.  For individuals who wish to Vote-by-Mail, the deadline to apply is May 28 by mail and Monday, June 3 by 3 P.M. in person.  Mail ballots must be received by the County by Election Day.  Registration forms and Vote-by-Mail application forms can be obtained at the municipal building or on-line at www.njelections.org.  Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 238.
  7. East Windsor Promotes Township Memorial Tree Program During Arbor Day.  The Memorial Tree Program offers residents a unique opportunity to provide a living memorial to a deceased relative or friend or in remembrance or commemoration of a special person, group or event, by the planting of a tree in the Township Memorial Tree Grove located on the grounds of the East Windsor municipal building.  The tree, including tree planting and accompanying granite marker with the name of the deceased person or event to be remembered, can be ordered through the Public Works Department.  Brochures describing the program and costs with an order form are available on-line CLICK HERE, at the Township Municipal Building or by calling (609) 443-4000, ext. 215.
  8. East Windsor Recreation Department Summer Camp Registration Is Open for Township Residents.  Recreation day camps will be offered for students entering grades Kindergarten through 6.  The Explorer camp is designed for campers entering grades Kindergarten and 1, the Adventure camp is designed for campers entering grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and the 2019 Travel camps are offered for campers entering grades 5 through 9.  Camp Care for before and after care of campers is also available for an additional fee.  Online registration and payment is available at (CLICK HERE).  Program information is available at the Township municipal building, local libraries and online at (CLICK HERE).  For additional information call (609) 443-4000, ext. 225.
  9. Township and Mercer County Will Hold Special Passport Day on Thursday, June 13 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard).  Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello are sponsoring this special Passport Day locally at which the Mercer County Clerk’s Office will process United States passport applications on-site for residents.  Residents can just show up, but are encouraged to call (609) 989-6473 to reserve a specific appointment time.  To apply, residents will need: (1) proof of U.S. citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate, a U.S. naturalization certificate or a previous U.S. passport, and (2) proof of identity in the form of a current driver’s license or state issued identification card.  Cost of the passport is $110 for adults, and $80 for minors, plus a processing fee of $35.  Passport photos can be taken on-site if needed for $15 or $10 for senior citizens.  Only checks or money orders will be accepted.  For further information on requirements and documents needed to obtain a passport, visit www.mercercounty.org and click on County Clerk, or call (609) 989-6473.
