- Special Notice from Environmental Commission: Spotted Lanternfly Update. The East Windsor Environmental Commission is reminding Township residents that spotted lanternflies reach their full adult stage in August. These invasive insects are a threat to local crops and, additionally, they excrete honeydew (a sugary substance) that attracts bees, wasps, and other insects. The honeydew can also build up and promote the growth of a sooty mold which can cover plants, patio furniture, cars, or anything else below where they feed. The NJ Department of Agriculture encourages residents to squash and scrape spotted lanternflies wherever they see them to help eradicate their spread. For further information, (CLICK HERE).
