May 2, 2025 - Mayor Janice S. Mironov Issued Proclamation for National Volunteer Week and Recognized East Windsor Senior Center Volunteers. The Mayoral Proclamation, noting that, "volunteerism is one of the basic traits in the American character . . . was established in 1974 to recognize and honor the generous people who volunteer their time and services to an organization or cause to help better our communities," recognizes that, "the Senior Center Volunteers help in the development, coordination and integration of the various programs and services available to senior citizens." The Proclamation continues, "the East Windsor Township Senior Center Volunteers realize the important part of giving back to their senior community by volunteering to assist in classes, games, arts and crafts, reading, exercise programs, special events and many other activities, in addition to the Mercer County Nutrition Project, which serves lunch to more than 70 seniors daily," and "expresses appreciation to our volunteers for their excellent and dedicated efforts to the East Windsor community." Mironov and Council Members. Simon "Skip" Berman, a longtime Township resident, has and continues to serve East Windsor in a variety of meaningful roles, including 27 Years on the Township Planning Board and the last three years as Chairperson, past Zoning Board of Adjustment member, over the past ten years as Secretary of East Windsor Green Space Inc. which supports municipal open space acquisitions, and the East Windsor Cable Franchise Renewal Committee member. Skip has served 10 years on the Beth El Synagogue Board of Trustees and various executive positions including Vice President of Buildings and Grounds, Vice President of Administration, Treasurer and Executive Vice President and significantly as President where he led the Synagogue through the difficulties of the COVID epidemic, economic challenges and increased security needs, as well as enhancing the facility's sustainability features. For the past three years, he has volunteered as a civics and criminal justice instructor at Princeton Learning Cooperative, an alternative educational resource for teens. The "Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer," presented annually by East Windsor Township, recognizes a senior citizen who has exhibited outstanding service through volunteerism to the community by way of schools, religious institutions, service organizations or directly to the public. Sylvia Weiss was a former East Windsor Township Council Member, past Council senior citizen advisor and chairperson of the Commission on Aging and was instrumental in the original formation of the senior citizen program. Congratulations to Simon "Skip" Berman on this well-deserved Award!

Launched in 2016, the community garden is comprised of twenty plots located in Disbrow Hill Park, adjacent to the Disbrow Hill Playing Fields and across from Etra Lake Park. The community garden is part of the Township's ongoing sustainable community efforts and provides residents with the opportunity to rent a plot of land to plant their own fruits and vegetables, herbs and flowers of their choosing while also providing a positive outdoor activity for families, friends or individuals. The community garden gives residents the opportunity to learn and share knowledge on gardening, nature and cooking, and provides a strengthened sense of community and social opportunities where community members of varying backgrounds can come together.

Mironov, Deputy Mayor David Russell, Council Member John Zoller and newly-appointed Council Member Joseph Miczak join with Health Advisory Board Members and gardeners to formally kick off the opening of the 2025 East Windsor Township Community Garden at Disbrow Hill Park. - REMINDER: Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Eastern Redbud Tree Seedlings on Saturday, May 3 (rain date Saturday, May 10), beginning at 10 A.M. and continuing to 12 noon or until supplies run out at the East Windsor Police Athletic League fields (30 Airport Road). Eastern Redbud saplings will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. Information about this variety can be found at www.arborday.org.
- Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspection Program Funded by $12,200 Grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety Kicks Off on Friday, May 9, from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Kids Kottage Learning Center (659 Abbington Drive, Suite 404). The Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspection Program is designed to ensure motorists are properly securing their children in child seats as required by State law. Interested residents can have their child seats inspected for proper fit and installation in their vehicles and will receive educational materials regarding current child restraint laws. - East Windsor and The Watershed Institute Co-Sponsored Annual Stream Clean-up at Etra Lake Park for Earth Day. Over 27 volunteers joined in on a rainy Saturday morning and collected over 156 pounds of trash and recycling. The Watershed Institute works with residents, municipal, county and state leaders and local groups on a wide variety of initiatives and actions to plan smart, grow community and preserve and protect our natural resources. Thank you to all of the great volunteers and to The Watershed Institute!
 Mayor Janice S. Mironov, Council Members and local volunteers participated in the 2025 East Windsor Township-Watershed Institute Annual Stream Cleanup at Etra Lake Park on Saturday, April 26. - Mercer County Roadway Improvements to Etra Road (County Route 571) from Milford Road to the County Border with Monmouth County continue with milling expected to be completed today, Friday, May 2. During construction, both lanes of Etra Road will be closed to through traffic from 9 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Detours are posted to use Cedarville Road and Windsor-Perrineville Road to avoid the area. Access will be permitted for local residents. The entire roadway work project is anticipated to be completed within 5 business days, weather permitting.
- East Windsor "Operation Medicine Cabinet" on Saturday, April 26 Collected Additional 42 Pounds, Resulting in a Total of 302 Pounds of unused and expired prescription medications, which were turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. "Operation Medicine Cabinet" provides a secure and legal means to dispose of these prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reduces possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs. East Windsor Township has a drop-off box for unused and expired medications available 24/7 in the lobby of the police/court building (80 One Mile Drive).
