  1. REMINDER: East Windsor Township Is Holding Document Shredding and Recycling Event on Saturday, October 1 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., RAIN OR SHINE, at the East Windsor Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard). This Township event, sponsored by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members, will offer Free document shredding to East Windsor residents (no commercial drop-offs are permitted), with a limit of ten boxes per household, and until the shredding truck is full. Residents also will be able to drop off electronics, specifically, televisions, computers, computer equipment and accessories, monitors, fax machines, VCR's and cable boxes, as well as cell phones, household batteries, fluorescent bulbs and toner cartridges. RISE will have trucks on-site to collect useable clothing, shoes, blankets, housewares (plates, mugs and related items) and working household appliances and electronics.   2. Roadway Improvements to Hawthorne Lane, Holly Drive, Iris Drive, Fern Drive and Brooklawn Drive between Woodland Drive and Ivy Lane West, Are Anticipated to Begin on Monday, October 3, Weather Permitting, with Concrete Work to Curbs and Driveway Aprons. Thereafter, storm drains will be upgraded, handicapped ramps will be repaired, and finally the roadway will be milled and paved. The project, awarded to low bidder Meco Inc. of Millstone Township, New Jersey, is supported by a New Jersey Department of Transportation $600,000 grant. Work is expected to be completed mid-November.
  3. Mayor Janice S. Mironov to Present State of the Township Address at Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber Economic Development Breakfast on Wednesday, October 12, at the East Windsor Holiday Inn (399 Monmouth Street). Mayor Mironov's annual State of the Township Address will include a report on accomplishments, current goals and projects and preview of what is on the horizon for the East Windsor business community. Breakfast will begin at 8:00 A.M. with the program beginning promptly at 8:30 A.M. All business and interested members of the community are invited to attend. The cost of the event is $40 for members and future members, and tickets are currently on sale through the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber website (CLICK HERE).   4. Chief of Police James A. Geary Is Retiring on October 1, 2022 after 27 Years of Service. Chief Geary, who joined the Township Police Department as a police officer in July 1995, rose through the ranks serving in Uniform Services as field training officer and secondary and primary officer in charge. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2006, where he served as platoon supervisor and traffic safety unit supervisor and in 2011, became Detective Sergeant in Investigative Services. In 2012, he was promoted to Lieutenant, serving as Operations Commander then as Uniform Services Commander, as well as head of Internal Affairs and Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator. Chief Geary was promoted to Chief of Police on January 1, 2017. He is the recipient of many recognitions and awards, including an accredited Chief Executive certification from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, Education Achievement Medal, multiple Unit Citation Medals, several Awards of Merit, numerous Letters of Recognition and Commendation for distinguished service, and was named 2007 East Windsor Township Public Safety Employee of the Year. Chief Geary’s excellent leadership, extensive experience, outstanding skills and dedication have been invaluable to East Windsor. East Windsor Township thanks Chief of Police Jim Geary for his 27 years of dedicated service to our Police Department and his many contributions to the creation of a professional effective department.

  5. East Windsor Offers Free Flu Clinics on Thursday, October 13, and Thursday, October 27 from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Township Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), for East Windsor and Hightstown residents 60 years and older. The Flu Clinics will be drive-thru and face coverings are recommended. The flu vaccinations are by appointment only, by calling the Township Health Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 222.
  6. Mercer County Holds Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, October 8 from 9 AM to 12 PM, rain or shine, at Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (across from county administration building at 641 South Broad Street). Residents may bring up to eight boxes or bags of paper; no household chemicals and no commercial businesses are permitted. Proof of residency such as a driver's license is required.   7. Mercer County Roadway Improvements to Old Trenton Road (County Road 535) between Princeton-Hightstown Road and Dorchester Drive Continue with remaining minor work to be addressed. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 9 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and is expected to be completed by October 3. This portion of Old Trenton Road remains closed to through traffic in both directions; northbound and southbound traffic are signed for detours.
  8. Jersey Mike's Subs Opens in East Windsor Town Center Plaza ("Shoprite" Center) on Route 130 North in Former Pet Valu Space. Jersey Mike's Subs is an America-based multinational restaurant chain whose specialty is submarine "sub" sandwiches. The first Jersey Mike's Subs opened in 1956 as Mike's Subs in Point Pleasant, New Jersey and has since expanded its chain of restaurants to 49 U.S. States and the District of Columbia, Canada and Mexico, totaling over 2,310 locations worldwide.   9. NOTICE: New Property Tax Relief Program Applications Have Been Mailed by State with Filing Deadline of Friday, December 30, 2022. The Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program replaces the Homestead Benefit program and expands the amount of property tax relief while also increasing eligibility. Applications can be filed online or by telephone. The online application for homeowners can be accessed here, the online application for tenants can be accessed here, and the automated telephone filing system phone number is (877) 658-2972, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Eligible homeowners must have owned and occupied their home as their principal residence on October 1, 2019 and have a 2019 gross income not more than $250,000. Eligible tenants must have rented and occupied an apartment or residence that was their principal residence on October 1, 2019, lived in a unit with its own separate kitchen and bath facilities, and have a 2019 gross income of not more than $150,000. The 2019 property taxes must be paid.
  10. Last Day to Register to Vote in the November 8 General Election Is Tuesday, October 18. Registration forms can be obtained online at www.njelections.org. or at the municipal clerk's office in town hall.
  11. Vote By Mail Applications for the November 8, 2022 Election Are Available on-line at the New Jersey Division of Elections website (CLICK HERE) or from the Municipal Clerk’s office. Applications must be mailed or delivered in person and cannot be submitted by facsimile or email. Mailed applications must be received at least seven days prior to the election. Voters also can apply in person at the County Clerk's office in Trenton until 3 P.M. on November 7. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 238.
