  1. ALERT: Windsor Center Drive Roadway Milling and Paving Work Almost Complete this Week. The project, being performed by Aurobindo as part of their agreed transportation improvement contributions, includes resurfacing the entire roadway from Princeton Hightstown Road to Old Trenton Road, as well as some concrete work and inlet rehabilitation.
  2. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees. Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. Residents interested in volunteering can obtain an application form from the municipal clerk or can fill out this form (CLICK HERE) and return by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303, or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   3. East Windsor and Mercer County Holding Special Passport Day on Thursday, October 26 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard). Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello are sponsoring this special Passport Day, at which the Mercer County Clerk's Office will process United States Passport applications locally for residents. Residents are encouraged to reserve an appointment by calling (609) 989-6465. To apply, residents will need: (1) proof of U.S. Citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate, a U.S. naturalization certificate or a previous U.S. passport, and (2) proof of identity in the form of a current driver's license or state issued identification card. The cost of the passport is $110 for adults and $80 for minors, plus a processing fee of $25. (separate check). Passport photos will be available for $15 or $10 for senior citizens. Only checks or money orders will be accepted; no cash or credit cards.   4. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaims October "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" and Recognizes Womanspace and the Domestic Violence Victim Response Team, joined by Womanspace Executive Director Patricia Hart and Team members. The Mayoral Proclamation reads, "The East Windsor Domestic Violence Victim Response Team and Womanspace have provided a coordinated community response that has served hundreds of local residents during its years of operation, and has improved many lives in our community by advocating the importance of victim safety as well as accountability for abusers. The pro-active commitment by East Windsor Township through its Domestic Violence Victim Response Team and Womanspace visibly demonstrates to our residents and surrounding municipalities that we are united in combating domestic violence and that it is unacceptable to our entire community." Womanspace is the lead non-profit organization in Mercer County that provides crisis intervention and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The mission of Womanspace is to provide a comprehensive array of services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and to improving the quality of life for women and their families.

  5. East Windsor Offers Free Flu Clinic on Tuesday, October 31, from 9 am to 3 pm at the Township Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), for all residents 60 and older. The vaccinations are by appointment only, by calling the Township Health Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 222.
  6. East Windsor Honors East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Firefighter of the Year President Benjamin Thornton for his volunteer fire service dedication. Benjamin Thornton was presented with a Proclamation from Mayor Janice S. Mironov in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. Ben Thornton joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 in December 2009 as a probationary firefighter, then graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy. He quickly ascended into Fire Company leadership, serving as President of the Fire Company for the past 8 years where he has capably presided over the executive board overseeing Company daily business operations, building maintenance and strategic planning, including involvement in membership, recruiting and publicity efforts for the Company. Ben Thornton is an invaluable asset in assisting with various community events and initiatives of Fire Company No. 2 including the Boot Drive and the Annual Fund Drive. In 2016, Ben Thornton responded to over 276 calls and attended 73 training drills, in addition to always seeking to expand his education by attending classes on Incident Command, Pump Operation, Hazardous Material Operations and Confined Space Awareness. Thank you to all of our great fire company volunteers!

  7. East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Hosts Halloween Party on Saturday, October 28, from 11 am to 3 pm, Rain or Shine, at the fire station (69 Twin Rivers Drive). The event will include fire truck rides, hay rides, Sparky the Fire Dog, arts and crafts, games, hot dogs and snacks, D.J. and dancing.   8. Khasiyat Restaurant Opens in Royal Plaza on Route 130 South. Khasiyat offers "street food" from all corners of India. Owner Rajesh Parekh opened his first location in 1998 in Iselin, when he "craved the flavors from back home and saw a limited availability of good, quality tasty Indian fast food." Current hours of operation are Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am to 10 pm, closed on Monday.   9. East Windsor Will Hold Free Rabies Clinics for dog and cat owners on Saturday, November 4 from 1 pm to 3 pm at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 at 51 One Mile Road and on Saturday, November 11 from 1 pm to 3 pm at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 at 69 Twin Rivers Drive. Owners will be required to show a certificate of previous rabies vaccination; otherwise vaccinations of one year duration only will be provided. For safety, all animals must be properly restrained by leash or carried.   10. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Meets with Cub Scout Pack 53 Members to Discuss What a Mayor Does. The Arrow of Light scouts in Dens 7 and 8 met with Mayor Mironov for a discussion/question and answer session, for the purpose of earning their Building a Better World Adventure pin.

  11. East Windsor Will Participate in New Jersey Division of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, October 28 from 10 am to 2 pm, a program offering residents the opportunity to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reducing possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs. The Township has a drop box in the lobby of the police/court building at 80 One Mile Road for the collection of these various medications. This special one-day collaborative event with the U.S. DEA is intended to focus community attention on the importance and opportunity for secure and responsible disposal of medications. Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal. The Township maintains a year-round 24/7 accessible permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the police/court building.
  12. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available. If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building. Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more. Interested individuals should contact the Municipal Clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237 and provide your name and contact information. Mercer County Improvement Authority Holds Electronics Recycling/Paper Shredding Day on Saturday, November 4 from 9 am to 2 pm, Rain or Shine, in Parking Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (directly across from County Administration Building at 640 South Broad Street). Accepted electronic items include televisions, VCRs, computers and monitors, laptops, keyboards, circuit boards, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, phones, camera equipment, microwaves, and stereo equipment.
