1. Rise Local Food Pantry Receives Generous Food Donation Valued More than $50,000. Mayor Janice Mironov and Council Members were on hand as Rise leadership received and unloaded a full tractor-trailer load of food donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on August 17 at the Tri-County Cooperative Auction Market. The Church's support system operates farms, food-processing facilities and storehouses to provide food for people in need, both through its own congregation and through partnerships with community organizations throughout the country. This major donation helps keep the Rise food pantry stocked, providing support to local families in need, while also helping Rise put aside non-perishable items to prepare for their upcoming annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. East Windsor Township appreciates this major donation to our community and commends Rise for the outstanding service to local residents and for making a meaningful difference in the community.

2. East Windsor Officials, in Support of a GMTMA Grant Study, Are Seeking Input on East Windsor Area Public Transportation Needs and Potential Recommendations. The Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association (GMTMA) is launching a transportation planning study in East Windsor and Hightstown. This project, funded by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), aims to: learn about and document community transportation needs and challenges; identify potential solutions or projects that will better connect people to jobs, educational opportunities, medical services, and other community resources; and explore ways that potential solutions can incorporate electric shared-use transportation to help reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The GMTMA grant is exclusively for developing recommendations not implementing them. Residents and businesses can provide input by completing the GMTMA Survey (CLICK HERE). There will be other upcoming community opportunities to engage and provide input for the transportation study.

3. CALENDAR: East Windsor Is Holding Community Remembrance Ceremony for Anniversary of 9/11 on Thursday, September 10 at 5 P.M. to remember and honor the anniversary of September 11. The ceremony will take place at the existing 9/11 Memorial located on the grounds of the East Windsor Township Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard). Participants will include the school district, clergy, veterans, police officers, fire company volunteers, scouts and local officials. The public is encouraged to attend, to join in ensuring "We Will Never Forget."
