1. East Windsor Holds "Rock Bottom" Concert on Sunday, July 19 at 6 P.M. at Etra Lake Park. A Jersey Shore staple of over 16 years featuring dynamic lead vocalists Dina Reagan and Gerard DiNola. Rock Bottom is a high energy rock band playing a variety of music ranging from Billy Joel, Dua Lipa and Simple Minds. Rock Bottom often plays at popular local bars; Moore's Tavern in Freehold, MJ’s in Bayville, Marina Grille in Belmar and Water Street in Toms River. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Melvin H. Kreps School auditorium (5 Kent Lane, East Windsor).

   

2. East Windsor Holds "The Verdict" Concert on Saturday, July 25 at 6 P.M. at Etra Lake Park. Specializing in Caribbean-inspired Soca and Reggae music, The Verdict brings tropical rhythms and entertainment designed to keep audiences on their feet. The Verdict has performed venues as varied as Stone Pony in Asbury Park to the NFL Owners Meeting at the Super Bowl in Miami. They have also done municipal shows for Bradley Beach, East Brunswick, Stafford Township, Piscataway, Cinnaminson Township and Essex County this year. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Melvin H. Kreps School auditorium (5 Kent Lane, East Windsor).

   

3. East Windsor Township to Host Substance Abuse Prevention Program on Wednesday, July 22 at 6 P.M. at the Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), Open to the Public. Sponsored by the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, this presentation will review efforts made in New Jersey to address the opioid crisis and the role of our community in helping to prevent underage drinking, vaping, marijuana use, and misuse/abuse of opioids and other prescription medication. The presenter, Bill Lillis, from the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is a certified prevention specialist with almost 20 years of experience in the field of prevention and treatment. As part of the presentation, he will provide effective strategies to use in communicating with young people.
   

   

4. East Windsor Officials Will Be Hosting "National Night Out" on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the East Windsor P.A.L. Complex (30 Airport Road). This annual fun educational Township event, sponsored by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members in conjunction with Chief of Police Jason Hart, features displays of emergency services equipment, canine drug detection demonstrations, booths and displays by area groups and businesses with information and giveaways supporting the National Night Out theme, DJ provided music and refreshments. Youth games and activities will feature jumping/climbing inflatables, a climbing obstacle course, face painting and air brush tattoos. 5. Special Notice from East Windsor Environmental Commission: Recycle Batteries. Many of the batteries used every day can be safely recycled, from the ones that power your TV remote to the larger ones in tools and e-bikes. Recycling these batteries keeps them out of landfills, reduces fire risks, and allows valuable materials to be recovered and used again.

   • Primary (single-use dry cell) batteries are recyclable. These include Alkaline (AAA, AA, C, D, 9V), lithium primary and coin button cell batteries. Alkaline batteries usually do not need terminal protection. Lithium primary batteries need terminal protection. Bagging each lithium battery individually provides terminal protection. These batteries can be recycled at the next East Windsor Recycling and Shredding event on September 12, 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.

   • Rechargeable batteries are designed to power devices again and again. They store more energy than single-use batteries, can still hold residual charge even when “dead” and can spark or overheat when tossed in the trash. These batteries can be recycled at participating stores such as Staples, Target and Home Depot and should have terminal protection.

   • Wet-cell lead-acid batteries are hazardous material and not accepted at East Windsor recycling events. They are collected through the Township residential drop-off program at the Public Works Facility at 309 Ward Street, 7 A.M to 2:30 P.M. weekdays. They can also be recycled at stores that sell them.
