March 13, 2026 - Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaimed Boy Scouting Anniversary Week and Recognized Local Scout Troops -- Boy Scout Troop 5700 and Cub Scout Pack 53. The Mayoral Proclamation, accompanied by a personal donation of support to each of the scout groups, noting that the Boy Scouts of America founded in 1910 and are celebrating their 116th anniversary, praises Boy Scouting as a "youth program of character development, value-based programs and leadership training." The Proclamation further stated, "The Boy Scouts of America is a great success due to the commitment of volunteer troop leaders, who dedicate their time guiding our youth, acting as positive role models, and teaching the values and principles of the Boy Scouts," and "expressed appreciation to and commended the outstanding work of our local Boy Scout organizations, their scout members, leaders and volunteers in our community."

The annual award is to recognize a senior citizen who has exhibited outstanding service through volunteerism to the community by way of the schools, religious institutions, service organizations or directly to the public. Nominees must be at least 60 years of age and residents of East Windsor. - Mayor Janice S. Mironov Participated in Meals on Wheels of Mercer County "Community Champions Week". Mayor Mironov joined local volunteers to deliver meals to program participants to generate public awareness about senior hunger and isolation, to celebrate the invaluable services provided by the various meals on wheels programs, and to recruit new volunteers and support for the program. Meals on Wheels of Mercer County helps homebound and elderly residents to maintain their independence, health and well-being through delivery of a meal Monday through Friday by volunteers in East Windsor and other Mercer County communities. Individuals with mid-day availability can volunteer according to their availability to deliver meals to local seniors. The program is made possible by the generous support of volunteers who deliver the meals and provide daily contact to the homebound and elderly.  Mayor Janice Mironov joins local volunteers to deliver meals to area homebound and senior citizens during Meals on Wheels of Mercer County "Community Champions Week." - East Windsor Sponsors Reusable Bag Design Contest for High School Students. Participants must incorporate the Township logo, include creative artwork featuring environmental themes and messaging, and list the current Mayor and Council members. The first-place winner will have their design printed on the bags used for East Windsor National Night Out, receive a gift card, and be recognized at a Township meeting. All interested participants should submit entries with name, grade level, and phone number by Monday, April 13 to deputycklerk@east-windsor.nj.us or drop them off at the Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard). - East Windsor Township Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaimed Read Across America Day and Participated in Reading to Multiple First and Second Grade Classes at the Ethel McKnight Elementary School. Read Across America is celebrated annually on March 2, what would have been the 122nd birthday of Theodore Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. Read Across America, launched by the National Education Association and promoting a life-long love of reading, is the nation’s largest literacy initiative. The Read Across America 2026 theme is “Bring Communities Together."
- Free Gun Safety Locks Are Available to East Windsor Residents During March under Mayor and Council Gun Safety Program. The Township is sponsoring this pro-active safety initiative to promote improved gun safety, as these gun locks if properly used can help keep guns out of the hands of children and others in a distressed state of mind, so as to prevent accidental and unintended deaths and injuries. The gun locks are available to East Windsor residents at no cost through Project Child Safe, a national firearms safety program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Free gun safety locks can be obtained at the Township police/court building (80 One Mile Road) by contacting Detective Timothy Purpuri at (609) 448-5678, ext. 232.
- Mercer County Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Event Will Be Held on Saturday, March 21, from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M., rain or shine, at the John T. Dempster Fire School, located at 350 Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township. No registration is required, just proof of Mercer County residency. Residents can dispose of aerosol cans, used motor oil, propane gas tanks, pesticides, herbicides, car batteries, paint thinner, oil-based paints, stains and varnishes, gasoline, anti-freeze, driveway sealer, insect repellents, and fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. Used electronic equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, stereos, televisions, and microwaves will be accepted.  - Annual East Windsor Egg Hunt Is Scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at 10:30 A.M., at Etra Lake Park (rain date Sunday, March 29 at 10:30 A.M.). The egg hunt is for children in pre-school through Grade 5. This annual event features lots of candy, prizes, and fun! There is no fee or registration, but each child should bring a basket or bag.
