LIST AND DESCRIPTION OF TOWNSHIP BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

CABLE TELEVISION ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Advises Council by monitoring and evaluating the cable operator's performance and identifying the community's cable-related goals and needs. CLEAN COMMUNITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Designated Committee responsible for grant implementation pursuant to the State Clean Communities program by planning and implementing activities for litter clean-up. COMMISSION ON AGING: Advises Council in the development, coordination and integration of the various programs and services available to senior citizens. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: Advises Council and Planning Board on issues and activities to promote economic and industrial development. ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION: Advises municipal bodies on use of open space, water resource management soil control, noise control, recycling, air quality and other environmental concerns. EAST WINDSOR MUNICIPAL UTILITIES AUTHORITY: Administers water and sewer service within Township pursuant to agreement with the Township. HEALTH ADVISORY BOARD: Advises the Manager concerning matters of public health within the Township. HISTORIC PRESERVATION/CULTURAL AND HERITAGE COMMIS-SION: Makes recommendations on historic sites and advises, educates and implements programs to further historic preservation. Advises on matters pertaining to cultural activities and provision of better cultural arts appreciation and facilities. LOCAL ASSISTANCE BOARD: Provides policy direction to Welfare Director dealing with public assistance. MUNICIPAL DRUG/ALCOHOL ALLIANCE COMMITTEE: Prepares and presents to Council intervention and educational programs promoting drug and alcohol prevention within the community. PLANNING BOARD: Reviews applications for residential and commercial development, reviews and adopts Township Master Plan, and reviews Zoning Ordinance changes for the Council. RECREATION BOARD: Prepares and presents to Council and the Director of Recreation such programs, plans and activities appropriate to recreational needs of Township. TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Provides recommendations on transportation issues including traffic circulation, mass transit, bikeways and pedestrian pathways. ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT: Hears and decides appeals for variation from Zoning Ordinance and reviews such affected applications for development.
