EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP’S BUSINESS OMBUDSMAN

The Township’s Business Ombudsman personifies the Township’s motto that we’re open for business. Our Business Ombudsman opens doors for local businesses and businesses considering location or expansion in East Windsor Township. East Windsor’s Business Ombudsman provides the following services:

Provide guidance and assistance to businesses and developers in securing regulatory approvals from the Township. Act as a ONE STOP resource and point of referral for development applications.

Act as liaison between various Township departments and Township professionals in dealing with developers and businesses to resolve problems and lack of coordination.
Expedite Township and other governmental regulatory approvals for businesses. Provide information on what governmental agencies are involved in the development process and who should be contacted.
Provide information and assistance in getting utility approvals from the East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority and private utilities.
Suggest to the Township Manager ways to streamline or revise the Township regulatory process for business development.
Track businesses assisted until they open for business.
Promote services of the Business Ombudsman - provide information on services to other Township offices (e.g., Inspections, Health, and Planning staff).

The Ombudsman's assistance will extend to other governmental officials and agencies that issue various permits and give approvals. These are the Mercer County Planning Department, the N.J. Department of Transportation, the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection, the Delaware and Raritan Canal Commission, and the East Windsor Municipal Utility Authority.

Other Township Departments - Responsibilities

All Township departments help with making East Windsor Township Open for Business. When initially contacted by new or existing business, Township offices inform the businesses of the services of the ombudsman. They will also contact the Business Ombudsman so that he can follow up with the business to offer his services.
